"Halia?" I knocked on the door before turning the knob. "Hali, anak?"
Nagtataka akong luminga sa kwarto habang hinahanap si Halia. The room was empty and her bathroom door was open, so she wasn't in there either. Hindi na malamig sa loob kaya alam kong kanina pa nakapatay ang aircon.
"It's still early. Bakit ang aga naman niya nagising?" I said when I saw the clock. It was just 8 am. She usually wakes up at around 10 when she has no classes. Hinahayaan ko na lang din siyang makabawi ng tulog dahil pang-umaga ang klase niya.
I was humming down the stairs. I'm feeling extra happy today and really excited to make plans with Ace and our kids. I went straight to the kitchen when I heard our 4-year daughter, Eva, screaming.
"Daddy!" Kumunot ang noo ko nang makita itong tumatakbo papasok ng kusina. She was hiding behind the plant near the kitchen. Kung nagtataguan man sila ni Halia, malamang makikita siya agad nito.
"Good morning!" Napangiti ako nang paunahang tumakbo palapit si Halia at si Eva. Palihim na inirapan ni Eva ang ate niya nang nauna itong makayakap sa akin. "Anak, what did I say about your eyes?"
"Bad umirap," she gave an exaggerated sigh before facing me and her sister. "Sorry, mommy. I'm sorry, ate."
"Good girl." I planted soft kisses on top of their heads. They giggled then went back to playing. Ace was arranging the table when he saw me walk towards him. He wrapped his arm around my waist and kissed me. "Good morning, babe. Ang aga mo naman nagising."
"Mas maganda ka pa sa umaga, mahal." He smiled sheepishly that earned a glare from me. Mahina itong natawa sa reaksyon ko. "Yeah, may meeting kasi ako ngayon sa isang supplier."
My mouth parted at what he said. Excuse me?
"Wait. Hindi tayo papasok ngayon 'di ba? We've talked about this yesterday. Sharmaine is going to be in charge of the operation today."
"Love, I really need to meet with this supplier. Kailangan nating makahanap ng bago dahil humihina ang dating ng coffee beans sa dati nating kinukuhanan." He cupped my face and stared at me. "You don't need to come with me."
"Pero..." Nagtatanong ang mga mata nitong nakatingin sa akin. "Can't you re-schedule it?"
"Hindi pwede. Ngayon lang din kasi tayo masisingit sa schedule nila. They are offering a very good price. We could not let that pass."
I played with the insides of my cheeks and removed his hand from my face. Hinarap ko ang mga pagkain at inayos ang mga ito. "Magtatagal ka ba?" I whispered.
"Hindi ko alam, it depends. Hindi naman siguro ako gagabihin." Napahigpit ang hawak ko sa baso at madiin na binaba ito sa mesa. It created a loud sound because the table was also covered with glass. "Love, is anything wrong?"
