"Huh? Yes ma." I said as I higlighted a line from my hand-out. "Opo. Magkikita po kami ngayon."
"Sabihin mo kay Ace dito na siya mag-dinner. Tinawagan ko na rin si Alicia. Bibili lang daw sila ng regalo tapos dederetso na dito." my Mama told me.
I was currently in a coffee shop while waiting for Ace. Usapan namin na magrereview kami for the upcoming board exams. Ako sa October, siya naman sa November. 1 pm pa naman ang usapan namin pero napaaga ang punta ko dahil maaga rin kaming natapos sa review center.
"Okay Ma. Ako na po bibili ng cake para kay Daddy." I raised my hand when I saw Ace entering the shop. "Sige na po, Ma. Andito na po si Ace. We'll be there before 7."
The call ended and Ace kissed the top of my head before heading towards the counter to order. I haven't ordered anything yet because I ate my lunch after my review. Ace returned our table with a lemon meringue pie and a red velvet cheesecake for me.
"Thank you." I took a bite of it.
"Kanina ka pa ba, love? Sorry traffic eh." he sat in front of me and started eating.
"No it's okay. Wala ka bang class today?" I asked while scanning through my notes.
"Wala. Di ko alam bakit na-cancel. Ayaw 'ata kaming pumasa ng review center sa boards." he scratched his head.
"Baliw." I took a sip from my water bottle. "Alam mo na ba na sa bahay tayo dederetso mamaya? Birthday ni Daddy."
"Oo nga. Tinawagan ako ni Mommy kanina." he looked at me intently. "Ano ba gustong regalo ni tito? Gusto niya ba ng son-in-law?"
Muntik na akong masamid sa sinabi niya. "Sige parinig mo kay Daddy niya, 'di ka na makakatapak ulit sa bahay."
"Biro lang naman." he thought for a few seconds. "Sige ako na bibili ng cake."
"Talaga? Nag-present na ako kanina." I told him.
"Ede dalawa bigay natin. Para bukas magtayo na kayo ng bake shop." he laughed.
I started to scan another hand-out. While reading, I unconsciously looked at Ace who looked so serious studying.
"Babe. Do you think papasa tayo?" I asked.
"Why are you being so negative? Nasaan na 'yung babae na naniwalang kaya kong grumaduate with latin honors?" he held my hand as he said that.
Both of us grauated as Cum Laudes of our batch. Nung nalaman ko na pasok sa candidates for Latin honors 'yung GWA niya, kulang na lang magpa-party ako because of so much happiness.
"Pero. Iba kasi 'yung board babe." I anxiously answered him.
