"Ano ang longest English word?" Ace asked me while driving.
"Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis?" I looked at him.
"Susko." he massaged his nose bridge while moving one hand on the steering wheel. "Ang serious. I can't englishing, huh."
"Oh, sige nga." I looked at him. "What's the longest English word?"
"Ehem." he moved his neck. "So this is me swallowing my pride standing in front of you saying I'm sorry for..." huminga pa siya ng malalim. "That night."
He looked at me and winked. I rolled my eyes.
"It turns out..." I pointed at him. "You're out of tune. Ang pangit ng boses mo, tapos kanta pa 'yung joke mo?"
"Hindi ka talaga natawa?" he asked me.
"Nope." I said popping the 'p'.
"Aba." he looked at me before turning back his eyes on the road. "Hindi ba kita napapasaya?"
Napatingin naman ako sa kanya. Parang iba na 'ata 'yon. I decided to not answer his question. Pinigilan ko ang sarili ko na ngumiti.
"I thought so." he paused for a while. "May alam pa akong mahabang English word."
"Don't tell me you're going to sing again." I glared at him.
"Okay. 'Di ko sasabihin." he laughed. "It turns out freedom ain't nothing but missing you wishing I've realized what I have..." he wiggled his eyebrows at me. "When you were mine."
Napahilot na ako sa sentido dahil sa narinig ko. Sira 'ata 'yung CD na nabili ko.
"Oh ano, ang amazing ko no. Galing ko sa English." he boasted.
"No you're not. Alam mo kung saan ka magaling?" I asked him.
"Oo alam ko. Magaling ako magpakilig." he answered seriously.
"Parang 'di naman. Magaling ka sa kalokohan."
"Totoo din naman 'yon." we stopped in an intersection. "Pero may alam pa akong sobrang habang English word."
"Wait. Huhulaan ko kung ano." I stopped him.
"Oh sige. Dapat bago tayo makarating sa inyo masabi mo sa akin."
He was driving me home. After that very awkward confession in the mall, he pulled me towards the car park. Marami na kasing nakatingin sa amin at nahihiya na raw siya. Ni hindi ko nga alam na may hiya pala siya sa katawan.
