Chapter 56: 2 more days to go

-Shelby pov-
The house has been decorated nicely for Christmas. The girls are behaving after yesterday's blowout. I also have seen Judy smiling a lot more. I really think Alice has turned a new leaf.

I hope it's permanent too. I don't know if Judy can bounce back if not. She was destroyed after last time she left. I don't know how she will be if things go wrong this time.

I can only hope that they are on the same page. But hope can only take you so far. But it's what we got so oh well. It's enough for us right now.

"Hey Shelby?" I look over and see Alice looking nervous "Can I talk to you?"

"Uh yeah" I look over at sugar "Can you watch them and feed Abby?"

"Yeah" Sugar slowly picks up Abby "I've got it!"

"Thanks" I stand up and motion for Alice to lead "Start us off"

She nods and we end up in the office "Shelby I needed to ask you Something" I give her a confused look and nod "How would I go about getting something for Beth? I got something for the others but I just don't know what to get her"

"Had me worried not gonna lie" I smile and point to a list on the wall "What is unmarked is what was not bought from the wishlists"

"I take it kids aren't allowed in here or near it?" I nod and she walks over "I see somethings I could definitely do"

"I'm glad to hear you are taking a grandma role" She turns to me with a smile "How about I go with you? We could get to know each other and I could help you with Beths gift!"

"Really?" I nod and she smiles "Thank you! You don't know how much I appreciate this!"

"It's no problem" I walk toward the door and see sugar holding Beth "I was about to see you!"

"Please take at least one with you" I give her a confused/Amused expression "I'm tired and I only have Pamela along with Maribel to help"

"I'll take the fart machine of the day" Sugar gives a grateful smile "Just let me get my shoes on and I'll get Abby ready"

She nods and turns around "Thank you" She starts walking to the living room "I'll help by getting the fart box ready"

I chuckle and walk toward the stairs. Time to get to know a mother-in-law!

-Time skip-Alice pov-
It's been quite a quiet trip. Shelby seems to wanna talk but stops. I just want her to feel comfortable around me. Is this how it will be with all of them?

I mean Cass is the only one who I never hurt. I was so horrible in Lima. I tried to force my daughter from the women she loves. I tried to force my grandkids to be unhappy.

I was a monster to them.

"Let's sit" I nod and follow Shelby to a bench "You know it is awkward..you did hurt us a lot Alice"

"I know" I sigh and lower my head "I was not a good person the first time you all met me...I should not have said or done what I did"

"That's what separates you from other people" I give her a confused look "You consistently are apologizing for it even though we have already forgiven you! Most people wouldn't even say sorry the first time"

"I just want you all to be happy" I give a small smile "I wanna be able to be happy with you all"

"Then be happy" She puts a hand on my shoulder "Don't keep this weight on you! Let it finally be gone! Be free Alice!"

I smile and look away "I don't know who Alice is anymore" I wipe a tear that starts to fall "I'm so scared that she's not good"

"From what I've seen you are great" I look up and see Shelby smiling "You are great Alice"

"My daughter couldn't have found any better wives than you all" I pull Shelby into a hug "Thank you so much Shelby"

"No problem" We pull apart when Abby starts fussing "We didn't forget about you short stack!

I smile as she starts playing with the little girl. She's such a great mother. She has made up for her past mistakes and has been great. She's who I strive to be like.

"Why don't we get back to shopping?" Shelby looks at me and nods "Let's go get Beth a great gift!"

-Judy pov-
"Where are the girls at?!" I run around with sugar and Pamela "How did we lose four girls?!"

"Shhh!" I glare at sugar who points "I hear talking"

"I do too" Pamela starts walking toward the media room "I think it's coming from here!"

We all silently approach the room "They are normal talking" I grab the handle "Let me figure out what's going on ok? You all go take care of Emma, Jasmine, Fran, Beth, and Cass"

They nod and walk away. I slowly open the door and peek in. I see them surrounding a white board. I sigh when I see what's on it.

"I think these dress colors could work" Rachel holds up Yellow and pink "It'll be a Easter wedding"

"That works" Santana puts them on the board "I think they are great choices for the time"

"One pair can wear pink while the other wears yellow" They nod and Brittany points to the bridesmaid area "Why not flip the colors around for these dresses? That way people know the wedding goes both ways"

"I like it!" Lucy smiles happily "I think we have made great progress here!"

"What will the moms be wearing?" I see all of the girls jump as I walk in and close the door "I'm not here to cause fear"

Rachel's eyes are still side "How long have you been here?" I shrug cause I really don't know "Are we only trouble?"

"Not for taking normally" I walk closer to them "You are in trouble for not telling us that you have felt upset because you haven't planned your wedding"

"We just didn't want anyone to feel bad" I nod in understanding "So...Wanna help plan?"

"I would love to" I see them all smile and join in "Let's get to work"

-Alice pov-
I found a nice little bear blanket for Beth. It is half bear and half blanket! I have never seen anything so cool before! I wish they had one for adults.

"So I do wanna know something" I turn toward Shelby and nod "What do you think about the adult baby thing?"

"I honestly think it's good for everyone" Shelby smiles and I know I picked the right choice "If you all are happy then that's all that matters"

"I'm glad to hear that" She gives Abby a bottle as we head to the car "Thank god for breast pumps"

"I haven't started lactating yet" I look down at my chest "Is that normal?"

"Everything is fine" Shelby chuckles "You'll notice the growth when everything starts kicking in"

"Great" I playfully shake my head with a scoff "Just what I needed"

"Everyone could use bigger boobs" We both laugh "They cause some pain but it's worth it"

I nod and see we are at the car "I have enjoyed today Shelby" I look at her and smile "You are a great daughter-in-law"

"You are a fun mother-in-law" She puts Abby in the car and then gets in the drivers seat "I can't wait to see what we are able to do next"

"I can't either" I buckle up and keep smiling "I think I'm gonna enjoy being here"

I honestly do believe that. I had returned to push them apart again. But I've learned something important here lately. Happiness is more important than selfish desires.

"I'm glad you aren't trying to tear us apart anymore" I turn toward Shelby shocked "I knew when you came here"

"I'm sorry" I shake my head and sigh "I just didn't know if you all would be as good as you all are"

"We are happy" Shelby smiles "We want you to be happy too"

"I really wanna be" I look ahead as we start to drive away "I really do"

I hope I get the chance to starting today.
