"He is a man" they said,

His duty is to make sure his family is well-fed.

"Men don't cry",

That's why they are left to lie.

He must carry it all on his fingertips,

The pain he has, they say can't be his.

He hides it all even from himself,

I hope one day the story and scars they hold they'll be able to tell.

Even if they are "men" as they'd like to say,

They are human beings, with a reality they hoped they never encountered one day.
