"Are you sure you'll be fine, your brother won't be home and you'll be by yourself, I can stay until your moms back-" Leslie blurted out telling herself it was only to keep her friend from feeling alone but it was also her feeling unsure of the vacation. Bianca also knew Leslie was worried for her but even she knew that the bigger part was her not wanting to fly and meet her family. Australia was most likely the worst place for someone who was scared of any and all kinds of reptiles.
Leslie was terrified of the animals and her family, she wanted, No- needed others to like her, she just didn't feel right if someone didn't like her.
Leslie was always a nervous and excited mess, she took time to accept changes in her life no matter how small, she was always hesitant with new places, people, or things.
"Go, you deserve this and it is my fault for failing that math class" Bianca smiled at her best friend knowingly, math was so not her thing "Take a break and have fun, I'll miss you but I'll be fine, just remember to call me once in a while, you know how I lose my phone too much to be promising you that i'll call everyday"
Bianca was going to be trapped in her school for a month starting next week, the lovely life of summer school was waiting on her, it was the only way to get to senior year because being held back didn't sound so good to her
"Okay" Leslie sighed and turned around to walk into the airport, her heart pounding and her separation anxiety kicking in she turned back around to look at Bianca one last time "Love you, don't miss me too much"
"Please, you should look in the mirror and realize who's going to miss who more" Bianca smirked at her friend and chuckled at her as Leslie fiddled with the matching friendship bracelet, the old thing being something she couldn't depart from.
Turning around Leslie rushed in not trusting that she would leave if she didn't hurry, Leslie always needed a little push before she did something and luckily Bianca was that person who made her feel like anything is possible, Bianca was like her role model. Like said, Leslie was never good at letting go of the regulars, the girl had some serious detachment issues. She was a little koala, she held on tight to her tree and she never let loosened her hold.
Bianca sighed sadly as she slid back into her car. Driving away as soon as the car door had closed, she tried to keep her breaths as leveled as possible, not allowing the tears to fall as she let go of the only person in this town she really had left. The whole summer Bianca would be friendless and lonely because everyone she knew was out on summer vacation, half of the town would be empty of locals and be replaced by tourists who enjoyed the lakeside town.
Bianca's parents were divorced as of that day and her father had officially moved out and flew off to LA, her mother was out on business all summer, well business and enjoying her freedom as a single women even if she was sad, divorce is a big thing and even if they didn't love each other anymore she still spent so many years with that man.
Lastly her older brother Andy was in college and instead of coming home to enjoy his hometown he chose to stay and enjoying his summer frat parties. So Bianca had a whole house to herself and nothing to do or anyone to bring over.
It sounded amazing to some but not to her, for her it felt depressing, you walk into your house but it doesn't feel like your house, like you don't even live there or everything that made it yours just makes you feel indifferent. Closing the front doors behind you, you just question everything, you see nothing but yourself in a box instead of a house and no one else fits in with you.
It might sound confusing but she understood the feeling, that's how she felt most of the time. Trapped in her head, by herself with nothing good to keep her happy, just sadness and dark clouds.
