two days later:
it was the day before the battle to retake Wall Maria, and Elisa was walking around to get some fresh air. she was walking around looking at everything. children playing, people talking, she loved every second of it. then, she saw her mom buying bread for her and Kian. she sighed. "Evelyn." she called out.
Evelyn saw her when she said her name, and she smiled at the sight of her daughter. Elisa was wearing a dress that reached down to her ankles, and it was a white, regular sleeved dress with flowers and leaves on it. "you look as sharp as ever." Evelyn complimented. Evelyn was wearing her usual bounty hunter clothing.
"so do you." she said back, a little awkwardly. Elisa thought it was finally time that they spoke. the story that Shadis told her, Eren, Levi Squad, and Hange, it inspired her a bit to know what happened when Evelyn was gone. "i want to know. about why you left." Elisa requested. Evelyn's smile dropped. she turned serious. she wanted to tell Elisa everything, so she nodded.

"so... why did you leave dad and i behind?" Elisa asked. Evelyn immediately began after that.
"didn't have much of a choice." Evelyn answered. "threatened by the Military Police to do something. i left Kian behind with Lorenz, too. but once he was ten or eleven years old, i collected him so he can do work with me. i was gonna do the same with you, but then the fall of Shiganshina happened, so that sorta messed up my chances." she explained.
Elisa hummed in response. "tell me everything." Elisa said. so Evelyn did. she told her about the incident with Angelina, she told her why she was gone, she told her everything. they had drinks while they were talking as well. she didn't want to tell her the plot-holes in Christof's DNA that might possibly freak her out. she wanted to tell her some of that stuff another time. or if she finds out on her own, that's completely immacculate.
"whoa..." Elisa said. "the whole reason why i asked you in the first place was because us Scouts went to see the Commandant two days ago. what he told us gave me inspiration to talk things out with you." Elisa said. "but wow, that's crazy..."
"if you don't fulfill you duties to the higher ups, you get scolded and threatened. i doubt that would happen with Historia, though." Evelyn explained while sipping her drink.
Elisa sighs. "you're probably right." she said. "i can see where you're coming from with this, Evelyn. you were just trying to protect Kian and i." she said.
