late at night:
it was late at night, almost dawn, and everyone was still on the search for Wall Maria. Elisa was right next to Eren with Mikasa and Armin right behind them.
Elisa was with Eren the whole time. she got stuck with his horse, which she didn't mind it one bit. "i'm sorry that you got stuck with my horse." Eren said to Elisa.
"don't worry about it." Elisa said with a smile. "just worry about saving your energy." she said with reassurance.
"yeah, i get it. but still." Eren said.
"she's right, Eren." Connie said. that was his first mistake. "we need you at your best."
"don't say his name, dumbass." Jean scolded.
Connie gasps. "sorry, i forgot." he apologized.
"act as though we're surrounded by enemies." Jean said. "always." then, Jean looked up and saw a Titan to his left. Elisa looked up as well, and gasped at the sight.
"TITAN ON THE LEFT!" Elisa said. "EVERYONE HALT! light up the area!!" she commanded. everyone saw the Titan that Jean and her saw, only to see that it was sitting down, not moving a muscle. its eyes were open, but it wasn't moving at all.
"it's alright." Hange said. "pretty sure he's asleep. doesn't look like this is one of the new types that can move around at night." they explained. they then chuckled. "well, isn't that a shame? leave him be." they commanded. the group all dropped their swords and lights away after that, with Hange sighing afterwards.
Eren was still thinking about it, however. "i can't believe we had to get that close to notice the thing." Eren said.
Elisa cleared her throat while saying "sorry." Eren looked at her.
"yeah, i'm with you on that point." Hange said. "but it's worth it. the moonless night is protecting us. light from the moon is really just protected sunlight. and from what we can tell, that minuscule amount of reflected light is all that these new Titans need to move. it's good that we're using the new moon's cover. there's no guarantee that we won't have a repeat of before. for all we know, that sleeper might have been a moonlight Titan himself." then... "maybe we can capture one someday!" Hange said in their usual antics.
Elisa looked over to see Eren shaking. she got worried immediately.
i'm shaking... Eren thought to himself. why? what am i scared of? shit... what if i screw this up because of my nerves? what'll happen? we'll never get a chance like this again. if we fail, the hopes of countless people will be crushed... and through some twist of fate, it's all on me... how...? how can i save humanity...? i'm useless... i'm nobody...
Elisa got a hold of his shaking wrist. Eren gasped an looked at her. "Eren, are you sure you're okay?" she asked him. "you're shaking. what's wrong? are you scared?" Elisa asked again. Armin was wondering the same thing, and because of that, he nodded in agreement.
