My mind was conflicted as we got back into the car. The doctor's visit did nothing but confuse me even further than I already was. The big city of Seoul felt like the smallest town, where everyone knew everyone and that everyone knew my business, even though they didn't know shit. Being there in that moment was so constricting, it was like I was being smothered by my anxiety, drowning in a sea of possibilities.
I gotta get outta here!
"Chris... can you drop me off at the airport?" I asked, my hands trembling as I toyed with my fingers.
"What? Why? What's up?" He replied.
"I think I need some space to clear my head." My heart was pounding in my chest.
"I could get you a hotel room if you need Ki-" He began.
"NO!" I panicked. He shortstopped the car at my outburst. "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to scare you." My voice was small as he pressed the gas.
"I don't get it Kimmie, what's wrong?" He says, he grabs both of my hands in his large right hand. "I can't help you if you don't talk to me."
"You can't help, okay?" I freaked. "This is about me, Chris. I'll call Felix and tell him that I decided to leave early. I still want him to come but being here is no good for me or the baby. I'm stressed out and Jackson just sent me into overdrive. Being in Korea is suffocating. I gotta go... Channie please." Tears poured out of my eyes, their movements unstoppable and uncontrollable. There were no body shakes, no trembling, not even a choked voice. It was the cry of someone overwhelmed. He saw it, so without another word he drove me to the Incheon International Airport.
"Call me when you get back to New York, okay?" He asked. I nodded my head 'yes' and Chris gave me a tight hug. "You guys be safe."
"We will Channie," I told him. "Thank you... for everything." I grabbed my things and rushed inside, taking myself to the my airline counter to change my ticket.
"So good news... we actually have a plane that's boarding right now with a direct flight to New York's LaGuardia Airport. Only downside is that it stops boarding in 15 minutes," the lady behind the desk told me.
"That's great, I would like that one."
"Well I've changed your ticket for you but if you do happen to miss it just come back." I gave a quick 'thank you' and ran like hell to my gate. It was across the building which while that wasn't too far, I had to hurry up and get through the Korean TSA. The lines weren't too long but the guy in front was breaking my speed. When I finally got through I had 4 minutes left. I ran as fast I possibly could until my gate was in sight.
"Jamkkanman Jamkkanman," I called out to the attendants. "Wait!"
Out of breath, I made it to the gate right before they officially closed the door. I scanned my passport and scanned my ticket. I peered out of my window once I was finally in my seat. Taking out my phone, I called Felix.
"Kimmie?" He answered frantic.
Chris said something.. I'll kill him.
"Yes Felix," I replied. "I'm okay, please don't worry."
"How can I not worry? You didn't come back to Winnie's apartment nor did you come back to the dorm with Hyung. Why didn't you?!" I could hear his wavering voice. He sounded distraught.
"I'll still see you. When your flight lands, I'll come get you. We'll figure out everything once you get to America," tears fell silently, but I knew I had to be strong at least for the moment.
"What are you talking about?" he questioned. "We're flying out together."
Shit... was he just nervous because I was missing?
