My peace lasted hours. Not weeks, not days, but a mere few hours.
"Hi Kimmiecakes," Jackson smiled as the storm raged behind him.
"Kimmie, are you okay?" I heard the words but couldn't process anything. Soon I was standing behind Felix, his hands clenched in hard fists.
"The hell are you doing here Jackson?" He seethed.
"I'm not here for you obviously," Jackson dismissed. "I came for Kimmie. I just wanted to talk."
"That's rich," Felix scoffed. "You sat on that long plane ride just to talk?! Give it a rest and go away." In all of this, I stayed quiet, unable to speak.
"What in the world is taking the two of them so long," my mother muttered as she walked over. "Kimmie, who's at the do-" My mom stopped in her tracks, probably just as surprised as we were. "Jackson?"
"Hello Mrs. T. It's been a while, you look well.." he replied. My mom gave me a look and I continued to look at the floor.
"It has been awhile..." she walked over to the door, moving Felix out of the way as she widen it.
"It's raining and you look drenched, come in." My head popped up, shocked at my mom's words. "We just made food, you can have some of you wanted.""Don't mind if I do," he told her, wheeling in his suitcase, leaving it in the waiting room. He greeted my dad, who gave him a grunt in response. Jackson sat in the seat from mine, beside Chris, while Felix was still standing.
"Kimmie, don't be a jerk. Go get our guest a change of clothes," My mom commands. "You remember where the bathroom is, right Jackson?"
"I do."
"Well go there so you can dry yourself off before you catch a cold. Towels are in the linen closet." Jackson got back up and walked straight to the bathroom without another word.
"Mom?!" I whisper yelled once the door closed.
"No Kimmie, don't Mom me! You made your bed now lay in it. I'm sorry if this makes you uncomfortable Felix but since there is a chance that either of y'all are the father, we can't choose favorites and be rude to the other. It wouldn't be fair. Now go get the boy some damn clothes." She ended her statement like this topic wasn't open for discussion.
"He's got a whole suitcase yet I gotta bring him clothes," I mumbled as I rolled my eyes.
"You got something you wanna say?" My mom dared.
I sighed in submission, "Huh? No Mommy, I didn't say anything." I scurried along before my mom could swat at me. I ran up the stairs and grabbed an outfit of Jackson's out of my dresser. No I didn't throw away his clothes... I had planned on returning them... at some point.
I went back down the stairs and walked straight in to the bathroom that contained Jackson. The shower was running, so I tried to be quick... didn't work.
"Kimmie," he called out.
"No Jackson," I replied calmly, setting the clothes on the closed toilet. He poked his head from behind the curtain.
"Kimmie please," he pleaded. "I just want to talk."
"Yeah? And people in hell want ice water." I rolled my eyes and walked out of the room with no further comment.
I was beyond irritated by this situation. When would all the surprises end? I wanted a drama free pregnancy... I got a month. I'm truly over it. I sat down back at my seat, refusing to make eye contact with anyone.
I immediately started eating, knowing that my kid was probably ready for their meal.
"So Kimmie," my dad started.
