Y/N POV
Old man: "Ahem... I'll keep this brief. You have traveled here today in search of knowledge, to hone your craft and acquire new skills. When you are finished you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I look amongst you and all I see is wasted energy in need of purpose, direction. You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take that first step."
The boomer walks away and a hella thicc woman takes his place.
Woman: "Tonight you will sleep in the ballroom."
Y/N: "I like her."
Later that day while everyone goes to sleep I wonder around the school until the sun rises. Once it does I follow the other students to a locker room then to a cliff.
Old man: "You have all trained for many years and today all that training will pay off. Your goal today is to survive in this forest and come back with a relic. Have no fear for you will be given a partner, but they will be the first person you make eye contact with. Once you got one head North to obtain the aforementioned relic. When you do that you will head back here so you can get graded. Any questions?"
Before anyone can raise their hand we get launched into the forest. I transform my right arm and hook the Beowolf claws into a tree. I ride it down and immediately see three Ursai. Something in me tingles and I find myself smiling for no reason. I transform my other arm and lunge at the Ursai. I knock one Ursa to the ground and bite into it's throat. I tear out a section of its neck and eat it. I get swatted by a Ursa but dig my claws into the ground sliding to a stop.
I throw myself forward and land on the Ursa's chest. I reel my arm back and slam it into the Ursa's chest. I yank it out and squish the heart I pulled out. I look at the remaining Ursa who just whimpers and tries to escape. I push off my foot and swing my claws severing its head. I shake my head and look around to see that I already dealt with the Ursai. I look at my transformed hands and sigh seeing that I had another episode. Every now and then I have these instances where I'm not myself and I space out.
The first time it happened was three days after Ironwood took me in. It took ten men and over a dozen tranquillizers to put a stop to me. I have no idea what this part of me is but it's nothing good. These moments of spacing out may be few and far between but each time I have one I feel it last just a little bit longer. My biggest fear is that I may space out and never return to normal. It's because of these moments I act the way I do. By being a dick no one will want to be with me. And if they aren't with me than I never have to worry about accidently hurting them when I space out.
I shake these thoughts from my mind and head North. Once I get there I see a few of the relics already missing. I grab whatever's left and head back to the cliffs. Along the way back I hear fighting and head to it to see everyone plus others fighting both a Nevermore and Deathstalker. I run to the Deathstalker and jump onto its head. It screeches and tries to shake me off; I maintain my grip and dig my fingers into its eyes. It roars in pain then tries to sting me. I roll to the side and grab ahold of its stinger tip. I plant my feet on the rest of its tail and try to pull the stinger tip off.
Y/N: "Could use some help!"
A gold and red shield is tossed and hits the stinger tip. It gets knocked loose which allows me to yank it off and slam it into the Deathstalker's head. A girl in pink slams her hammer on the stinger which drives it deeper into the Deathstalker's head. I look up to see the Nevermore coming in for a swoop. I hunker down and jump landing on the Nevermore's back. I run to its eye and shove my entire arm in it. It squeals in agony when I repeat the action with the other eye. The blind bird crashes into the cliff where a girl with an oversized scythe hooks its neck and begins dragging it up the cliff with the help of some glyphs. I ride the bird up the cliff and when its head gets cut off I bail and land next to the girl with the scythe.
Y/N: "Not bad short stuff."
Ruby: "The name's Ruby."
