Chapter 34- Pretty soon
-Harry's POV-
I was hurriedly throwing some clothes that I hoped were relatively clean into a suitcase when my phone began to ring. I snatched it up off the nightstand and shoved it up to my ear, balancing it there with my shoulder.
"Hello." I mumbled into the phone, continuing to pack.
"Hey baby. I was just calling to make sure you're still coming down on Friday?" My moms light voice came through the phone. Was it lame to say that I really missed talking to her?
"Yeah yeah, I'm packing right now actually." I said, making my way into the bathroom to grab some soap and a toothbrush l.
"Last minute of course. Good to know that the big city hasn't changed you too much." She said, the smile evident in her voice.
"Mom, I grew up in a big city." I said, a smile forming on my own face as well.
"But not the big city." She continued.
"Hey, I've been meaning to ask you, why did you never tell me that Noelle stayed with you for a while?" I asked, tossing a few extra things into the suitcase before plopping down onto my bed with a sigh.
"I don't know... I just figured that if she wanted you to know about it, she would call you." She said, I could imagine her shrugging nonchalantly.
"How long did she stay exactly?" I asked.
"I think maybe that's a good question to ask her. Honestly Harry, she's your best friend right? Talk to her." She instructed, the all too familiar motherly tone returning to her voice.
"Alright. That reminds me, Noelle's going to be spending Christmas with us. I hope you don't mind that I invited her without asking you." I said, more as a formality than anything because I knew she wouldn't mind either way.
"That's fantastic news! I can't wait to see you both." She said, her tone lightening up.
"I can't wait to see you either. I miss you." I told her before I thought about it. I could just imagine the look of fondness I knew she had on her face.
"Well then get back to packing. I'll see you tomorrow. Love you." She said.
"Love you too." I said quietly before pulling the phone away from my ear and hanging up.
Now the part I was dreading most of all, telling Lyric that Noelle was coming with me. I knew she would overreact and cry and be mad, that's why I put it off this long. But it was just something that had to be done.
I zipped up my suitcase with ease, seeing as I had packed pretty lightly. I had a feeling I would regret that later, but I couldn't think of what else to pack at the moment.
I then emerged from the room that I shared with Niall, finding Lyric in the kitchen, bent over slightly while she looked through the fridge. I didn't know where Niall was, seeing as it was 10 am on a Thursday and he wasn't in his bed or passed out on the couch.
I walked up behind Lyric quietly and wrapped my arms around her waist, causing her to jump slightly. She quickly settled into my arms, her muscles relaxing when she registered that it was just me.
"Hey you." I murmured into her ear, hardly a one a whisper.
"You scared me, you asshole." She said, a grin forming on her face.
"I didn't mean to. I was just trying to be romantic, you know sneak up behind you while you're making breakfast." I said to her, my voice sounding more raspy than normal.
