Chapter twenty-one- You don't really
-Noelle's POV-
I never exactly prided myself for having great decision making skills, so I found it difficult to name a decision about my hair once we arrived at the salon.
"How about a natural color. I mean, it's not that hot pink doesn't look nice, maybe I'm just an old woman, but I prefer a more natural look." Marion said, flipping absently through a magazines while I waited for my name to be called.
"I might get hot pink again just to spite you." I said, leaning my head back against the wall. The smell of hair products filled my nose, and I wasn't a big fan. I felt like I couldn't breathe properly.
"You're almost 18, you can make your own choices. I was just making a suggestion because you seem so indecisive." She shrugged. I let out a sigh.
"Noelle?" A stick thin woman said from behind the checkout counter. I stood up and made my way over to where she stood.
"I'm Kristie. I'll be doing your hair today. Follow me." She said with a smile that exposed her slightly crooked teeth. I walked with her over to her station and sat down. "So what are we thinking of doing today?" She inquired, making eye contact in the mirror.
"I'm not actually sure. I know I need it dyed and at least trimmed, buy other than that I don't really have any great ideas." I said with a small shrug.
"Well those are a given. I wouldn't let you walk out of here with your hair looking like that." Kristie smirked. There was something to be said about pale, skinny women who were somehow able to wear black lipstick without looking like a complete idiot. I envied Kristie's appearance mainly for that reason.
"I'm thinking dark purple. I mean as great at hot pink can be, it doesn't seem to fit you very well. It will also accent your eyes." Kristie suggested, taking s piece of my hair between her thin fingers.
"Well I guess we can start there." I smiled. Kristie seemed pleased that I had liked her suggestion.
Kristie began by bleaching my hair, which didn't seem completely necessary because it shouldn't be that difficult to cover up faded pink and dirty blonde with dark purple, but I didn't question her. I just sat quietly while she worked the dye into my hair.
When she rinsed out my hair, I was thoroughly surprised that I liked the color so much.
"So, looks pretty good right?" Kristie said with a smirk on her face.
"It looks awesome." I smiled back.
"So now the hard part. Finding a cut that fits the color." She said, resting a hand on her hip.
"Do whatever you want to it. You seem to have a pretty good sense of style, and I certainly don't have that. So I think I might trust you more than I trust myself."
"I won't disappoint you." She smiled, gathering up her tools.
Within about 15 minutes Kristie had cut off the majority of my hair, which had grazed my shoulders when I walked in here. I now had an extremely flirty, dark purple pixie cut. She had left it longer in the front but extremely short in the back. She also had cut my bangs so that they swept easily across my forehead, which was my favorite part.
"No disappointment I hope?" Kristie said.
"Not at all. I love it." I said, running my finger through my damp hair.
"I'm glad. Just keep that color up, and don't you dare let it get as bad as it was when you came in. You're way too pretty of a girl to have bad hair." Kristie laughed lightly.
