Chapter 27- Are you lost?

-Noelle's POV-

After I had unpacked most of my stuff and began settling into my dorm room, I made my way back to the front gate where I was supposed to meet Zack. It took me a little while to get back because I had partially forgotten what gate we entered at. It was now 6 pm and I hadn't had a bite to eat since I ate breakfast at about 9 this morning. Needless to say, I was truly ravenous.

I was relieved when I finally spotted Zack leaning up against the fence right by the front gate.

"You finally made it." Zack said, sounding exasperated.

"Sorry I kinda got lost." I shrugged at him.

"Well you'll be doing plenty of that in the next few weeks, and if you're as slow as I was, months." He laughed.

"I'm too hungry to laugh. I really hope that where we're going isn't very far, because I'm not sure I'll make it." I said, being a little dramatic.

"No it's only like two blocks away. It's my favorite place to eat because it's not very expensive." Zack said, pulling himself away from the fence to start walking towards the restaurant.

"That's what I like to hear." I groaned.

We told each other stories from the time we spent apart as we walked to the restaurant, and for once, I had the more interesting things to say. Zacks year had been pretty uneventful, he mostly just focused on school. Didn't do much else. I, on the other hand, had plenty of things to tell. I told him that I went back to Chicago and finally came to terms with what happened, I told him about working at Marty's and living in the tiniest apartment ever.

"Well it sounds like you had it all figured out." Zack smiled, holding the door of the restaurant open as I walked inside. I noticed that it was really more of a bar than a restaurant, but at this point, I would eat anywhere.

"Yeah I did. It was weird." I laughed.

The hostess, who looked about my age, greeted us and led us to a booth in a weird back room of the bar.

"Enjoy your meal." The hostess said and hurried of to seat the people who had come in after us.

"So what do you think? Could I be a hostess?" I asked Zack, flipping open my menu.

"No way. You hate taking to people you don't know, and that's basically what you would have to do all day." He scoffed.

"You're right. I would hate it." I laughed, looking over the list of burgers.

Our server came over a few minutes after we'd sat down to take our orders. I ended up just getting a bacon cheeseburger, I usually tend to stick with things I knew I liked.

"Oh! I totally forgot to tell you, Harry goes to our school. I ran into him here once actually." Zack said.

"Here?" I asked.

"Yeah... I thought you would be more surprised or excited or something." He said, looking disappointed.

"I kinda already knew.... his mom told me when I went to visit her." I stated.

"I'd been waiting so long to tell you that. That just ruined my whole night." Zack said.

"Oh whatever." I rolled my eyes at him.

"He asked me for your phone number one time... did he ever call you or anything?" Zack asked.

"No. I mean, why would he. We live in totally different worlds." I replied, my head spinning. Harry has had my number in his phone all this time and he never called me or anything? What's the point? Just as that thought crossed my mind I remembered that I also just had Harry's number sitting in my phone, completely unused. I was being a hypocrite.
