Sylvia's POV:

I can not thank Ariel enough.

"Hey, I was thinking of heading into the nearest city and getting some supplies, do any of you girls want to come along?" Elvin suddenly asked us while we in the middle of playing a board game.

"No thanks, I'm busy." Ariel quickly said, before turning to me and winking.

"I see." I muttered to her.

Then I mouthed a thank you before replying.

"Yeah I'm free tomorrow."

"Great, then we'll go tomorrow and get some needed supplies." Elvin said while heading to his room.

I was so excited I couldn't sleep the entire night and was very exhausted the next morning.

"Hm? Sylvia, if you're tired, we can go some other time, or I can go by myself-" Elvin began to say as he noticed my fatigue.

"No! I-I'll go, I just couldn't get much sleep last night was all." I said with a forced smile on my face.

"Alright, while we're in the city, I'll try and find some decent materials that'll let you sleep better." Elvin said.

I sighed in relief, sometimes it's good when Elvin is dense like this.

I've been living with him and Ariel for about two months and in that time I've steadily come to enjoy living with these two.

Every day has been fun and entertaining even on the days where nothing happened.

Ariel's father kept visiting us, but he was rejected by Ariel each time, and his reactions were, pitiful.

Back to the present though.

Elvin and I were casually strolling through the market of the city, Aria, named after the goddess humanity worshipped.

"Oh, this could work, and how about this? Maybe this could be useful?" Elvin was super energetic throughout the entire day.

Meanwhile, I...

Got dragged around by such wild energy and in the end got lost from him.

That was when I suddenly became more self-conscious of myself.

All the glares of the people around me, like they couldn't stand the sight of me.

I didn't know what to do, I had on idea what to do.

Then somehow or another, I came upon a dead end.

"Going somewhere, little missy?" A voice came from behind me, it was a man with a creepy look on his face.

"Heheheh, it must be hard for you, being one of the "cursed children" and all that, here, why don't I make you feel better, ah?" He said in a disgusting tone.

I should be able to fend this person off, but my feelings were betraying me.

All I could do was think about how powerless I really am.

The moment I get separated from Elvin, and not only am I cowering like a little girl, but I've also lost all strength in my body.

"Move! Move damnit!" I was telling myself in my mind, but nothing happened.

As the man quietly crept closer, I realized this would be the end of me.

Then, I thought back to something Elvin had told me.

"Sylvia, you don't like fighting, do you?" He asked me one day out of the blue.

"Why do you ask?" I responded back with a question of my own.

"Whenever you shot those arrows towards me, I noticed they were dull, and unless you were enraged, there is almost no sense of bloodthirst. So, I figured you probably don't like fighting all that much." He replied.

"Yeah, I don't. I don't like fighting at all, it's always messy and no one is ever truly happy in the end." I told him my true feelings on the matter.

Then, what he said next is what kept ringing in my head for the next week.

"That's true, but everyone has to fight seriously at least one time in their life, and I think even if you don't like it, when that time comes for you, give it your all, don't hold back."

Is this that moment he was talking about?

But...

Part of me just wants to stay here, and wait and hope he comes back, but he might not.

What if he never comes?

That's not true, I'm sure he would find me, but when will that be?

If I don't do something right here, right now, will I be &(*%+ ?

If that's true, then maybe I need to fight, I don't want to, but I need to, to make sure I can see him again.

To make sure, that the joy I've been able to experience so far, will continue, without any sorrow or regrets.

I steadily picked myself up off the ground, and summoned my bow.

"Back off creep!" I shouted back.

The man was stunned before immediately running away.

I sighed in relief, seems like my intimidation tactic was a success.

"Good job, I was getting worried for a bit there, but it seems you didn't need my help, so I'm glad you're alright!" Elvin said while giving a slow clap on top of a building.

"Elvin!? How long have you been there for!?" I shouted in surprise.

"The truth is, you never lost me. Sorry about that." He replied while scratching his cheek regretfully.

I looked at Elvin's regretful expression, and smiled.

"Nah, it's fine. You were watching over me the entire time, right? I'm grateful that you didn't interfere though." I replied honestly.

After hearing that, Elvin heaved a sigh of relief before saying.

"I'm glad, now, let's continue our shopping, shall we?" He said as he descended from the roof and held out his hand.

"Yes." I said, as I grasped his hand tightly and continued strolling the streets for the rest of the day.
