Ariel's POV:
Standing on the shore watching as the prince rose up from the sea, I couldn't help but feel extremely anxious.
I was calmed down somehow by Elvin's warm hand reassuring me that everything will be fine.
Afterwards I began the plan we discussed earlier.
"I can do this." I muttered.
After he came ashore in his fully human form, he looked towards Elvin and said.
"So, you are looking for a quick death it seems."
"Nope." Elvin replied casually.
"Whatever, arrogance or ignorance, it matters not, what matters is that for the price of you seducing my bride to be, I shall kill you and take your women for myself."
"We're not some prize you can fight over!" Sylvia shouted readying her bow, but Elvin stopped her from going any further than that.
"I don't care how you see yourself, and I personally don't really care for any of you. What matters is that my honor has been insulted, and I will not let it stand, so today, I challenge you to a one on one duel." He said.
"I'll accept, but on one condition." Elvin replied.
"What is it?" The Prince asked, impatiently.
"Ariel will fight in my place." He said.
After hearing this, the Prince and his bodyguards with him all laughed like they'd heard the funniest joke.
"Surely you're not suggesting that a woman can best me in combat, can you?" He said.
"Why not? I know plenty of strong women who are stronger than you." He said, while giving a slight look at Rozalia.
Does she even count? She's a dragon after all.
But, well, I'm glad Elvin said that, it really boosted my confidence from like, 10% to 15%.
I took a deep breath.
"What, are you scared I'll beat you?" I said, trying my hardest to act tough.
It was a little rough, probably because I was just mimicking what I've seen guys do to pick a fight.
"Hmph, impudent wench, I'll teach you to disrespect royalty." He said, as he summoned his trident and immediately lunged forward towards us.
Smiling, I revealed the massive amounts of mana I had gathered while we were talking, then I made the mana take the form of a massive water ball, after that, I compressed it as much as I could.
"No way, that's-!" One of the bodyguards of the Prince's shouted in awe and fear as he looked at my magic.
This was one of my own original magic spells, Condensed Water Laser.
Within a moment, a single infinitely extending laser beam made out of water was shooting right next to the Prince.
"Eep!" He squealed in surprise.
"If you don't want to die, then call the marriage off!" I shouted.
"Yes, Ma'am." He said, scared out his wits.
Then he ran like a little girl back into the ocean.
Phew. My body feels heavy.
As I was about to collapse to the ground, Elvin quickly held me in his arms.
"Did I do it?" I asked weakly.
He smiled and answered:
"Yeah, yeah you did."
After that, I don't really remember much that happened.
A week later.
Elvin and I officially got married, we held two different weddings.
The traditional wedding from where Elvin is from, where I got to wear this beautiful ocean blue-green dress and say our vows, and the Merfolk form of marriage.
That one was more special to me, because I was able to convey my love for him with my actions, and not just simple words.
All in all, everything went back to normal, only now I was happier than ever.
