ELLIE
"You ready?" Lindsay asks me, I nod. we enter the clinic so I can get birth control. I need to get examined first. If you ask Lindsay, everything down there is working fine.
Were not going to ask him.
Lindsay wanted to come with me for this appointment because for one, I've never had a pelvic exam and secondly, he just was bored today. Plus mom wanted to explore the city today, so Lindsay offered his car for her and we just took my car.
The rental company she booked with didn't have her car ready apparently. They said she booked for the wrong day but the confirmation email proved differently. Stupid people. They gave her a thirty percent off discount for her next time using their company.
How hard is it to get dates right? I mean she booked the car for today and until the day before she leaves. So why is it so hard for them to get it right?
Walking up to the receptionist I smile at her. She seems like a nice lady. She has blonde hair, brown eyes and she isn't much older than me. "Hello, welcome to Northside Clinic, do you have an appointment?" The receptionist asks me and I nod.
"Ellie Alvarado," I say as I dig throw my purse for my insurance card. She types something into the computer. Most likely looking for my appointment. She then takes my insurance card and types some more on the computer.
I watch as she looks at the computer confused. "I'm sorry ma'am it looks like your insurance is expired," She says and I look at her confused. What? I knew I would be taken off of the insurance but not this soon.
Fuck, this is going to empty my pockets. It's like a thirteen hundred dollar procedure. I can afford that but It's going to be all my monthly spending for this month. Why must healthcare be so expensive, it's a right to be given aid so why do we have to pay so much money for it.
"Here, use my insurance," Lindsay says handing over his information and I look at him. I go to take it back but he takes my wrist when the receptionist grabs the information card. "It will be fine Ellie,"
When she hands Lindsay back his information she points to the waiting area, "it should only be five to ten minutes, If you don't mind peeing in this cup while you wait. When your done place it over there on that counter."
The receptionist places a label on the cup and hands it to me. I hand Lindsay my purse and head to the washroom.
Why can't they make the cup just a little bigger? Like it's not so easy to just pee in the cup. It is a talent not to get urine on my fingers. Like damn.
After washing my hands and wiping the cup down. It's just common sense to wipe down the damn cup. No one wants to touch your urine.
Placing the cup on the counter I go over to Lindsay and sit with him. "You didn't have to use your insurance, I could have just paid out of pocket,"
Lindsay looks up at me and turns his phone off. "Why would I make you pay for something that benefits both of us?" He asks, it really does benefit both of us. But still, I could have just paid out of pocket.
It's going in me and I have to deal with the side effects so I should have been paying for it.
"But it's going in me, so I should have paid," I tell him, whispering because no one needs to hear our conversation.
He chuckles and places his hand on my thigh, "a lot of things are going in you including me, but, we don't want you to be getting pregnant now, That's one thing that doesn't need to be in you right now." Lindsay says giving me a small chuckle, proud of his joke as I puff my cheeks out.
