Waring: Implied sexual themes at the end (but nothing graphic or described).
Snow. In London. In April. Germany couldn't believe the sight outside, white blanketing the ground as even more snow began to fall. Usually, he didn't mind such weather, actually finding it pretty. But that was in December when snow was expected, not in what was supposed to be spring. To make matters worse it was England's birthday and the two had planned to have a picnic in the park, but now that idea was out the window.
England gave him a gentle look. "I'm sorry love, I know you were looking forward to today. You and me both."
"It's fine. It's only a picnic," Germany sighed, "I'm just disappointed since there is not much we can do now."
"Well...there is always a movie night...er...day. Kiku actually gave me a new one a few days ago as an early birthday present." He walked over to his shelves of movies grabbing one with a dark cover. On the front half-man, half crow creature held onto a silver-haired woman. After placing the disc in, he handed the box to Germany.
"Howl's Moving Castle? Isn't that the name of one of your favorite books?"
"Yes. But apparently, it is only a loose adaptation, animation looks gorgeous though."
A small smile made its way onto Germany's lips. "If we're going to do this. We might as well do this right. You get the blankets, I'll get the popcorn and drinks."
In no time the two were snuggled under a blanket on the couch, a bowl of popcorn in between them. Once they were situated (England leaning against Germany's side with the German's arm wrapped around him), England hit play and the movie began. As the theme began to play, England began swaying his head to the music. "Want to dance?" Germany offered without much thought.
He blinked slowly for a moment, confused by his lover's offer, but it was quickly replaced with a grin. Pulling Germany up, the two began to waltz and spin around the living room to the tune. As the song ended, they slunk down to the floor, pulling the blankets and popcorn down with them. With a content sigh, England laid his head on Germany's shoulder, settling in for the rest of the film. In turn, Germany wrapped his arm around him, pulling him closer. They watched the rest of the film just like that, occasionally stealing a few pieces of popcorn.
As the movie concluded, Germany remembered the gift he brought, considering now was a better time than never to give it. England let out a small whine when Germany got up to which Germany only let out a light chuckle as he went to retrieve the wrapped package.
"Happy birthday Arthur," Germany said with a grin, handing him the gift.
"You didn't have-"
"I wanted to. Just open it."
England complied, tearing into the pale green paper. A white-covered record was revealed with "The BEATLES" written in small print. "No way..." he breathed.
"I remember how you mentioned you had lost this record...so I thought it would make a good gift."
"And it's the original cover too. Ludwig, how the hell did you even manage this?"
Germany gave him a wink. "Let's just say I know a guy. Do you like it?"
"Like it? I love it! Thank you." England placed the record aside, jumping at his lover, knocking them both to the floor with England on top. As he pulled away he noticed Germany's flushed cheeks and the position they were in. A dark smirk made his way onto his face as he leaned down once more for a long slow kiss. "Do you by chance have another gift for me?" he whispered against the other's lips.
"Maybe..." Germany responded, reaching up for another kiss.
"Then let's bring this to the bedroom."
Author's Note: Was I self projecting with the waltz scene? Maybe. Also the reason there is snow is that a few days ago, we got a lot of snow despite it being April. I'm not in the U.K., but because of this strange weather I was inspired.
