My eyes widen. It can't be! Powers? My mind starts to whirl. How? Why me? Do the powers have to do with the journey? What does all of this mean?

Then, it hits me.

Of course I can talk to animals and Connor can't. Because I have the power to! I have the power to talk to animals! The chipmunk then turns towards Connor, breaking my thoughts.

"Well, Connor. Just look at you! It was like it was meant to be." It said.

"Wait, what was meant to be? And what's wrong with my appearance?" Connor asks. Nothing. I think to myself. His broad chest and shoulders, and his gleaming eyes are the best of his features.

"Ever wondered why you have red hair, and red specks in your eyes?" It asks. Connor's eyes widen. Fire. His power is fire. So that's why Connor loves flames. The way he would build the strongest of fires, and how they would collectively move in controlled chaos. It would amaze me, but it did so even more because of the fact that Connor isn't used to living and breathing in the natural landscapes that formed years before.

"What are your names?" Connor asks the chipmunks suspiciously. He acts like he's talking to thin air, even though he can still see the small animals.

"I'm Peanut." The one I have just determined as a girl says.

"I'm Chip." the boy says. He crosses his arms across his fluffy chest.

"Your names are adorable." I reply. I cup my hand around both of their heads, and I scratched their chins. Connor looks at me expectantly.

"Chip and Peanut," I whisper. Connor nods his head. I then turn back towards the chipmunks.

"Thanks! Lily named us." Peanut says. Peanut narrows her eyes and glances at me.

"Wait. Lily? The one who is in danger?" I ask.

"The very one." Chip replies.
