Maya's POV

"It's so nice to know that I have friends who appreciate my privacy." I smiled sarcastically, before my smile turned to a scowl. Walking past them, I walked in the direction I Came from, and pulled out my backpack from my suitcase.

I pulled out my grey backpack, it's fraying edges showing how old it truly was. I yanked a black tank top out of my suitcase, and proceeded to stuff it into the backpack, next taking some black leggings, I continued to stuff the bag with black clothing, until it was halfway full. You might be wondering why it was all black, but the reasoning is quite simple- blood stains aren't too prominent on them.

I became aware of Xander's presence beside me as I started putting a pair of shorts into the backpack which caused him to growl for no apparent reason. That reminded me of another good thing about going away on 'Bratva-ey' things, scars were completely normal. In a way- it was part of the job. So I was free to wear whatever I pleased, without having to worry about questions.

Xander began trying to start conversation, but I accidentally tuned him out. My mind wandering into a dark abyss.

"Maya? Are you even listening?"

My eyes snapped up to meet Xander's gaze. His eyes furrowed together, he raised an eyebrow at me before speaking again.

"I was saying, what are you packing for?" He repeated,

"Oh, I've got to go on a trip for my Politics class." I replied quickly. Too quickly. I walked away to the bedside table and grabbed my toothbrush and a few other bits and bobs, throwing them in the bag. I heard Xander ask Brody about the trip, to which Brody said that he didn't sign up. A complete lie of course, considering there was no trip to begin with. But I had a feeling that Brody simply went along with it because even if there was a trip, he wouldn't know about it. I finished up putting my 'normal' supplies in the bag, which was far from organized, before I called Tyler into the room.

Moments later, Tyler came running into the room, smiling at me as he looked toward Xander, glaring at him slightly.

"Hi, what's up Maya?" Tyler's cheeks were flushed slightly as he spoke, a grin stretching ear to ear.

"Well, I was thinking that you might like to show Xander and my friend Brody your room." I raised my eyebrows in question.

"But why? I don't want to." He whined as I silently begged him, "I- mean, Yeah, sure come on. Let's go. Now!" he stammered excitedly, grabbing Brody's hand and signalling for Xander to follow them.

Gotta love that kid.

I let out a sigh, before rummaging through my suitcase and reaching the 'bottom'. I felt around for the zip before I undid it and pulled out a few knives and my favorite dagger. Where I was going, there would be plenty, but I prefered using my own. I was more familiar with them, and it made sure I never forgot all the horrible things I did.

The purple tinge on the metal shined in the sunlight as I stuffed a few knives in the pocket on the side of the back pack. I held the dagger, inspecting it's clean state, when something pulled it away from me.

"Nice weapon. Don't see why you'd need one on a Politics trip though." Xander mused, slinging an arm around my shoulder.

"You can never be too careful Alpha Boy." I brushed it off as he began looking at it. Admiring it the same way I was, curiosity shining in his eyes.

"Okay. Now pass it here." I asked, batting my eyelashes and flashing a smile in an attempt to play nice.

"I'm good thanks." He replied grinning wildly. My smile dropped instantly, a scowl taking its place as she looked toward the dagger.

"Give it to me. It's mine, you have no right to touch it." I tried again, irritation lacing my words.

"Where does someone even buy a dagger from?" Xander queried, brushing his finger on the purple blade, wincing as it cut his skin.

"I swear. If you don't give it back, then you're gonna have worse injuries than that cut. Now give it, you're hurting the poor thing." I fussed, watching the crimson splotch. Choosing to ignore an odd sting.

"It's a dagger."

"Don't you dare offend Sir Pokes-a-lot. Now gimme, you're gonna stain him."

I took Pokes-a-lot from him and slid the blade into my backpack. Just in time, It would seem, as a horn peeped outside. I rushed down the stairs, my hand wrapping around Xander's on instinct as I opened the door. Brody came rushing downstairs after me, Tyler on his back.

"Where are you going? Oh, nevermind. Xander, I have important news." The Beta declared.

"Go on." Xander looked worried momentarily.

"You have been overthrown as my best friend. Tyler the Terror is my new best friend." He grinned.

"I still don't like that name." Tyler giggled.

"You'll learn to love it." Brody fired back, before Brody said a quick goodbye and went back upstairs. It seemed like although I was leaving, Brody would be staying.

I laughed softly, before turning to Xander. Only then realizing our hands intertwined together. I felt myself go red as I let go.looking at him properly.

"The trip is for a week tops, I'll be back soon." I informed, feeling partly responsible for the sad look on his face. Wait, why was I feeling responsible? I had done nothing wrong.

"Right then... Okay." Silence rang out between his words," I, I'm going to miss you." He stuttered. A look of shock taking over my face. Nobody, in any of the places I'd stayed before, had ever missed me. Sometimes I'd go missing for days when I was captured, but my foster families never even noticed.

A second honk rang out, snapping me out of my thoughts as I pecked Xander on the cheek before getting in the Black mercedes, and slammin the door. I splayed my feet across the back seats as I greeted the driver.

"Добрый день." He nodded in response curtly before we began to drive off. It was then, that 2 things occured to me: 1, I didn't tell Mrs Carter, but that was no big deal. 2, I just kissed Xander. I just bloody kissed Xander. (Good Evening)

Why the fuck did I do that?

Now, the thoughts I'd been suppressing for what felt years, resurfaced.

This, was going to be a long ride.
