Maya's POV

"I just, I just moved out when I was 8." I said, trying to get away from the topic- trying- This guy was persistent, I'll give him that.

"But why though. I don't know much about the foster system but I know that you just don't 'move out' of a foster home."

Xander's POV

I knew she was holding out about something and I fully intended to find out what. Especially since my question got such an odd reaction out of her.

"I just moved out when I was 8." Maya said, her heart skipping a beat. She was lying to me. I'm not going to lie, it hurt, but I quickly brushed it off and replied. I needed answers and I was going to get them,

"But why though. I don't know much about the foster system but I know that you just don't 'move out' of a foster home."

"I just did okay, leave it alone." She snapped at me, growling softly.

'leave it alone Xander, mate isn't going to tell us about this yet. Let it go, well ask later' Aiden said. Huffing, I changed the subject: I realized I hadn't eaten breakfast and I guessed that Maya hadn't either.

"Wanna go get breakfast? It's still early." I offered, hoping she agreed. She contemplated it for a minuted before saying yes.

As we walked back to the town square, I realized that there were only so many places that were open on a Saturday morning. Then I remembered Jess' diner.

"You like coffee?" I asked,

"Only with my oxygen." She smirked (A/N😉 anyone understand that reference???)

"Ok then, the diner it is." I chuckled before walking past some shops and into the diner.

As we entered, Maya stopped in her tracks and her heart beat increased. Instinctively, I stood slightly infront of her as Jess turned around.

"Well, well, well, do my eyes deceive me. If it isn't little Ace."

Suddenly, Maya shoved past me, hopping over the counter, and jumping into Jess' arms.

"Oh my God! Jess, I can't believe you're here." She screamed in excitement,

"Same here Little Ace, last time I saw you were in London. You moved again huh?" He asked, getting a nod from Maya to confirm his theory.

Maya's POV

I couldn't believe my eyes, Jess was actually here, quickly pushing past Xander I leaped over the counter and jumped into his arms, "Oh my God! I can't believe you're here." I said, fully aware of how loud I was being,

"Same here Little Ace, last time I saw you was in London. You moved again huh?" He said, figuring out my situation quickly, I just nodded in response, too full of happiness to respond.

Jess, my Jess was here. In the same town as me. He was actually here. Pulling away from the hug, I jumped on his back. Intending never to let go again.

"Would you mind telling me how you know each other Maya." Xander asked, bringing me back to reality, I simply shrugged before answering him,

"Jess and I met a few years ago when I was..." I trailed off, not wanting to tell him that I actually met Jess when I was running away from my latest group home, and when we were both basically fugitives  " when I was in a- group home in London, we lived together when I was 13 and then again till around last year." I said, receiving a pointed look from Jess as I continued to mess up his hair- still on his back,
