Maya's POV

Suddenly he let out a deep growl before he said "Mate".

I didn't know what he meant, or who he was, I mean he looked familiar but all I could focus on was the fact that I had forgotten to make my eyes green again. I had been to focused on finding out about this man. So I quickly changed them to green after Cora quickly whispered to do so.

Oh no, that was a really stupid thing to do. Now I didn't have an excuse. What was I going to do? What did I say. What could I possibly say to explain this. I let out a whimper, and my heart began to race, my hands began to tremble and it became harder and harder to breathe. I felt like the world was going to crumble around me right then and there.

'Cora, what do I do. It's happening again. Cora help please help.' I begged. I was having another panic attack.

Forgetting about the mysterious man, I ran. I ran and ran until I tripped up and fell. My thoughts were spiralling and I couldn't stop thinking about my childhood. I wanted to stop but I couldn't. Over and over the scenes kept playing in my head. The chains. The whipping. The horrible things he did to me, and let other men do to me. Over and over again, the scenes played in my head. Cora was affected by my thoughts too, whimpering and squirming in my mind. Tears streamed down my face and I could feel my eyes going crazy, flickering between purple and green. This had happened way too many times before, and I knew the only thing I could do was wait for it to pass.

Xander's POV

I stood there speechless, as the girl's eyes stood fixated on mine. I had found my mate. To say I was happy was an understatement- I was over the moon, I had been searching for my mate for almost 2 years, waiting as my beta, Brody found his and my Gamma, Daniel found his. I was alone for 2 long years. But now I wasn't. I didn't think anything could compare to this feeling.

A whimper broke me out of my daze, and I realized that my mate's eyes had now become a stunning forest green. She was most definitely a werewolf. Then it clicked- this was the girl from yesterday, the one Mara befriended. As I looked at her I realized that her hands had begun to tremble and her heart beat had risen too quickly. Suddenly she began to sprint off as I stood there- completely still.

'Go after her you idiot, mate needs our help.' I did as I was told and began to follow her as she ran further into the woods, I hadn't been running very long, but boy was she fast. Out of nowhere, she suddenly tripped up over a root and fell over. I rushed to help her but she just ignored me. with no idea of what was happening, and no idea how to help, I watched her, my heart shattering from seeing her so broken. She quickly scrambled towards the nearest tree and began rocking back and forth in a tight ball, tears rushing from her eyes, which were going crazy, switching between purple and green repetitively.

Not knowing what else I could do, I knelt down next to her. I tried asking Aiden for help but he stayed silent, clearly being effected by her wolf. Whereas I could already feel the strength of the mate bond, our wolves created the bond the second she turned 18, and it was already twice as strong for them. I outstretched my hand, in an attempt to try and calm her but she flinched way, The girl before me was nothing like the hot headed, fiery ball of fury that Brody complained about. The girl before me was broken. What was happening?

'panic attack, talk to her, get her to listen.' Aiden whimpered out, not having to be told twice, I started talking, about anything I could think of; of the fact I was born in the village, that I had 3 siblings, anything to help my mate. Nothing seemed to work though, she just kept whimpering. Then I realized that she was probably at least a bit concerned that I had seen her eyes change: from what Mara told me, she didn't know much about our world, and if she didn't notice my scent, I seriously doubted she knew much at all about us. Deciding I should probably go with my gut, I began speaking once again, placing my hands on either side of her face.
