“No one ever said that life is fair.”

The next morning I sat with Shachi, Penguin, and Train when Hat-kun strode into the room. It had been rare to see the captain anywhere besides his own room. Bepo handed him a newspaper and he smirked to himself as he read it. “So the other 10 have all gathered,” I read his lips as he muttered. He sat the stack of papers down as he stood up. He surveyed the room slowly, almost everyone in the room was watching him out of the corner of their eyes.

“It seems things are about to get interesting,” Trafalgar announced to his crewmembers. He waited until he was sure he had everyone’s undivided attention. “All the Super Novas have gathered. Everyone get ready, we are going into town.” The crew hooted and hollered at the promise of excitement. “We leave in an hour,” Hat-kun smirked then walked out of the room. I found my own lips curving into a smile. It’s been awhile since I’ve done something as a crew.

“Hear that Raven?” Train asked me while standing up. “Captain says we get to see the other rookies.” Without waiting for my response he is already out of the kitchen and in the hallway.

“Well, someone is happy.” I mutter while the other two at my table stand up.

Shachi laughs a little, “Well, he does want to see his competition. He’s only 5 million berry away from being one.” Shachi explained. My eyes almost popped out of my head.

“That timid cluts has a bounty of 95 million berry?” I asked, not able to hide the shock in my voice.

“Ya, basically,” Shachi answered before him and Penguin walk out of the room also, leaving me stunned.

I pulled on my shirt that Bepo had made for me and black capris. I holstered my guns at my hip and secured my scythe to a strap around my back. Then, I threw on my black cloak and braided my long hair. I found that I was smirking at my reflection in the mirror. Don’t get too happy, or else you’ll be disappointed. I reminded myself before altering my expression to emotionless. At a leisurely pace, I made my way to the deck. Almost all of the crew was there and there was only five minutes left. Hat-kun was leaning against a door frame and smirked when he saw me. My stomach clenched as I remembered that the navy thought I was his girlfriend. No way in hell would I ever like that recluse.

“Everyone is here, captain,” Shachi announced as he exited the sub. Hat-kun noded, and as if on cue, smoke could be seen rising from a nearby grove. A hint of amusement glittered in Hat-kun’s eyes as we made our way towards the source. Hat-kun walked towards grove 21 at a leisurely stroll. I could tell that some of the crew members are getting jittery but he moved no faster. As we entered the grove Trafalgar observed the area before sitting on a wooden crate and had us stand behind him.

“Captain, no one is here.” Penguin said, a bit unsure.

“Just wait, things are about to get interesting.” Hat-kun said while leaning forward. As if on cue Mad Monk and Killer come tumbling down the street attacking, dodging, then attacking again. Ha-kun peered at them with a smile, one I haven’t seen since the first night I met him. Out of nowhere X Drake appearied and stoped their attacks simultaneously.

“Fufu, that was a narrow escape from death,” Urouge laughed as he rubbed the back on his head. As the fight was broken up X Drake began to walk away, towards us.

“And I was having such a nice time…..” Hat-kun said aloud as Drake walked by. Drake said nothing but looked at the dark doctor. “Drake, how many people did you kill?” Hat-kun attempted to get a rise out of the man. Drake dug his fingernails into his palms, a gesture I’m sure didn’t go unnoticed by Hat-kun, before ignoring Hat-kun and walking away. “Hm, seems he didn’t feel like talking,” Hat-kun smirked and it sent shivers down my spine. Just what the heck is he planning? “Well, things have gotten quite boring.” He looked up towards the sky. “Penguin, Bepo, Shachi, Train, Raven, you guys come with me. The rest of you go guard the ship.”

“Captain, where are we going?” Train asked as Hat-kun stood up.

Hat-kun shrugged his shoulders, “Somewhere interesting.” He then walked over to me, snaking his arm around my waist.

“What exactly are you doing, Captain?” I asked while glancing up at him.

“I Just thought since the navy thought we are dating we might as well enjoy it. Isn’t that right, Miss Raven.” Hat-kun replied without so much as looking down at me.

I grabbed his hand and pulled it off of my hip, “Just for future reference, if you weren’t my captain you would’ve lost your hand.” He smirked as he walked ahead of us. That damn cocky bastard.
