"The longer you keep a secret the harder it is to admit."
I was falling, more like tumbling, down flights of stairs. It was weird that I felt no pain, the motion just maked me dizzy. When I finally landed at the bottom, three figures stood before me. One was tall and slim, another was almost as tall but wore a frilly dress, and the third was a bit shorter but was the stockiest of the three. As my head stopped spinning and my eyes adjusted, I could make out who the people were. The first was Hat-kun, next to him stood me, and beside that was Train. Both Train and Hat-kun held out their hands to me, Train with a smile and Hat-kun without an expression. The girl, who I now realized was Shira, crossed her arms and pouted. As I reached out to take their hands I heard voices calling my name. They echoed loudly in my head, making my vision almost fade. I tried to speak, but no sounds came out. I was inches from touching their outstretched hands when I jolted awake.
Train and Shachi stood above me, beaming with happiness when I opened my eyes. "Captain!" Shachi shouted excitedly like a child on Christmas morning. I could hear an almost inaudible grumble from the captain from a few feet away. "She's awake!" I could hear footsteps approaching at a brisk pace.
"Raven, are you okay? What happened?" Train asked as I tried to sit up.
"You shouldn't move yet." I heard Hat-kun's monotone voice, but he wasn't in my line of sight. My body wouldn't respond to me, which caused me to start freaking out a bit. "Don't worry, you'll regain control again in a few minutes." I stopped struggling, and wasn't quite sure of what to do. I wished I was still asleep, so I wouldn't have to explain to them what happened. Heck, I don't even remember what happened! Usually my memories of what happened while Shira was in control would come back to me in the form of dreams. "Now then, Miss Raven, you should be able to speak. Would you care to explain to us what happened back there?"
I sighed, no point in lying now, they already knew. "Her name is Shira." My voice came out horse and raspy, but it was still usable.
"Even I gathered that much," Grumbled Shachi.
"She is me... Well, sort of." I stuttered out, not exactly sure how to explain it.
"Split personalities?" came Trafalgar's voice, though I still couldn't see him.
"I suppose you could call it that, but I'm not sure who is the real me. H-how did I regain control?" I asked.
"With the power of my devil fruit. I was able to determine that your personality had switched. So I simply undid the switch." He informed me, stepping into view as he spoke. He had a patch on his left cheek and I could tell he wasn't moving fluidly. He had probably gotten hurt worse than he would let on. "And what does this Shira want?"
"Three things, control of this body, to see our brother again, and carnage." I answered simply. Shira had no desire for money or power, she wanted chaos. And the only person who ever approved of her chaos was him.
"You have a brother?" Shachi interrupted.
I had opened my mouth to respond but Shira's voice rang out in my head, "Damn you, Raven! Damn you, Law! I swear if I get control again you are the first one I'm killing!" Her voice was so loud and abrupt my whole body seized up and I laid in a fetal position. "Stop it!" I cried out, my head feeling like it might explode. "Please stop," I whispered, a single tear streaming down my face. I could feel myself shaking, but I couldn't figure out how to stop it. It had been years since she'd taken over, I had forgotten how bad the headaches were.
(AN: I am planning on entering a writing contest by the end of this month so I will be spending my time writing that story. So it will be a while before I update this story again. Thanks for reading.)
