By the time Penguin and I made it back to the ship most of the men were already awake.
“Where did you two sneak off together?” Shachi asked us with a wink to Penguin when we entered the ship.
“I got a weapon.” I said before Penguin had a chance to speak, while twirling the scythe in my hand.
“Oh, are you a Shinigami?” Shachi joked.
“You never know. I may sneak up on you in the middle of the night.” I continued the joke.
“Well, if you have a weapon that must mean you know how to fight.” He said while leaning against the wall, a gesture that strangely reminded me of Hat-kun. I wasn’t sure that I liked where the conversation was going but I nodded my head anyways. “Good! Then fight me!” he suggested while grabbing my wrist and dragged me down a hallway. The only thing that kept me from twisting out of his grip was the possibility of getting lost in the maze of a ship.
“Here we are!” Shachi announced happily once we reached a big, empty room. I noticed that we lost Penguin somewhere along the way. “You can have the first move, give you a better chance of winning.” Shachi boasted as I sat down my scythe. As much as I wanted to give him a death glare I stuck my expression into a stony mask of indifference. It would be so much more satisfying to see his face after his defeat if he thought he actually had a chance.
“Really? Thanks.” I told him sarcastically as I swiftly leapt forward. He seemed to be a bit surprised by the sudden movement but still managed to block it. I threw in a few more soft punches, letting him think this would be easy.
“You sure you don’t want to use that weapon of yours?” he asked cockily before throwing a punch at me. I grabbed his fist, and in one motion, flipped him onto his back.
“I’m sure.” I smirked as I pushed my knee further into his back.
“I wasn’t fighting seriously.” He protested as I stood up. “Let’s go again.”
“Ok, but let’s bet.” I said as a great idea came to me. He seemed to be confused so I elaborated. “100,000 beli that I win. You in?” I could tell that he wasn’t too keen on betting, at least not anymore. But his manly pride was at stake, so he agreed.
“You can have the first move, give you a better chance of winning.” I said the same line that he had mocked me with. He advanced forward and yelled as his fist came towards me. I simply moved my head to the side. He threw another punch, and again I dodged. After the next few attacks I was beginning to become bored of the little game. I yawned to get a rise out of him, and boy did it work. He practically threw his whole body into my direction. I sidestep him but his foot came around, causing me to block it with my hands. I caught his foot and threw him off balance.
As he landed on his face I came up from behind him and pinned him to the ground yet again. “That’ll be 100,000 beli.” I laughed as I walked over to retrieve my scythe. I should spare more often, that was easy money.
