(AN: So last month I was looking through some old papers from 2 years ago and I found my original draft for Silver Raven. I wrote out the first two chapter before deciding that I wanted Raven to be psychologically unstable. So I redid her back story and ended up with the story I published here. I'll only share the first chapter because the second is very similar to the chapter "The Heart Pirates." Anyways, Enjoy!)
I could feel his cryptic eyes examining me, judging me, sizing me up. Though, his stoic face didn't give away what he thought of me. I kept my gaze straight ahead, hoping that if I ignored him then he would go away. It didn't work very well. Eventually he got up and walked towards me. I tensed up, silently praying he would just pass me. He didn't.
"If you don't mind me asking, are you Grim Reaper Shira?" he asked with a cocky smirk.
This question caught me off guard, I thought he was just another stalker. I've had a lot of them since arriving at Midnight Island. It was probably because of my odd hair color, moon silver with a streak of midnight blue on the right side. The dark streak is my birth mark, so yes, it's natural.
"Uh, what are you talking about?" I ask, trying unsuccessfully to hide my shock. I slowly start to slide my left hand down to my waist to grab my pistol but am stopped. The man stuck his nodachi between my hand and waist.
"I'll take your hostility as a yes," he said with his face suddenly turning serious. I waste no more time and dart out of the bar, nearly knocking over a waitress. I've barely taken a step out of the front doors when he suddenly appears in front of me. I skid to a stop, startled. My hand instinctively reaches above my back, I guess he's not going to let me run. "It's a terrible thing that happened to your captain and crew mates." he spoke in an even voice, void of any empathy. In a fit of fury, I pull my scythe off back and hold it out in front of me.
"If you're just here to mock me then I'd suggest that you leave while you're still alive." I threaten.
"That's not my purpose here, Miss Shira." he said while staring me down.
"Then get the hell away from me!" I yell as I swiftly charge at him. I bring the hooked blade above my head and leap towards him, increasing my momentum when I bring the blade down on him. He easily blocks my slash with his nodachi. I bring my leg around for a kick, but he steps back before it makes contact. I give him no spare time and leap after him. I try hitting him with three quick slashes, but each one is blocked. Tch, this isn't working.
"Room," I hear the man say as a blue dome surrounds us. "Shambles," he suddenly appears behind me and swings his nodachi. I'm barely able to turn and block it with the staff of my scythe. With both of out weapons locked and pushing against each other, I stare him in the eyes.
"Y'know, the scythe and black cloak aren't the only reasons they call me the Grim Reaper," I state before colliding my foot with his stomach. He lefts out a soft gasp as I put distance between us. As he catches his breath, I sprint out of the dome. When I see that he hasn't tried to close the gap, I smirk. Perfect. I pull out one of my pistols and fire two bullets laced with haki. Neither hit him! Suddenly the blue dome forms around me again and the man swings his sword. His slash travels through the air and I dive out of the way. He doesn't hesitate and closes the distance between us, taking another swing with his nodachi. I block it just in time but am thrown off balance in the process. Without pausing, he attacks again. I block his next attack, but at the cost of losing my footing. I find myself falling hard onto the ground. As I turn to get up I am greeted by the tip of his blade against my throat.
"The other reason is the see-through bullets, right?" he mocks with his own cocky smile. I stare into his eyes defiantly, trying to hide my humiliation. I then scan the rest of his body, looking for any weak spot to get me out of this mess. My gaze lands on his hands which have the word 'death' tattooed on them, I gulp.
"Even if we were to continue, I would ultimately lose." I tell him, finally giving up. "So what are you going to do with me now?"
"I was planning on asking you to join my crew." He responds while putting his sheath back on his nodachi. Again, he surprised me. He must have read the expression on my face because he said, "You're free to refuse."
"What's your name?" I ask finally while he rubs his stomach tenderly, probably where I kicked him.
"Trafalgar Law." he responds as I push myself to my feet. Wait... isn't he one of the Super Novas?! No wonder I was beaten so easily even with a 70 million berri bounty on my head.
"I've gotten nothing better to do, so why not." I reply, my usual spunk replacing my humiliation. He smirks, pleased with my response.
"Welcome to the Heart Pirates, Shira-ya." he tells me while walking towards the docks. I follow behind him silently. Hopefully this turns out better than my last crew.
