“I’d rather trust and regret than doubt and regret”

Hat-kun walked around the island for a few hours with us in tow.

“Captain, how long are we just going to walk around,” Shachi complained.

“Ya, I’m getting hot,” Bepo said while attempting to fan himself.

“Don’t worry, we’re almost there,” Hat-kun smirked.

“And where exactly is ‘there?’” I asked, tired of his allusive answers.

“Patients, Raven-ya, I’m sure if you thought about it you’d be able to figure it out.” Hat-kun taunted. He’s right, I knew where we were going but I was hoping I was wrong.

“Where are we going, Raven?” Train and Shachi asked me excitedly.

“Grove 1, human auction house.” I told them while staring at the captain.

“Correct Miss Raven. And if my instincts are right, then something very interesting should happen.” Hat-kun mused.

“Ya, cause you’re instincts always lead to something good,” Shachi grumbled beside me causing Panguin and Train to bust out laughing. And even I couldn’t contain a small giggle. An irk mark appeared on Hat-kun’s head but he said nothing.

“And while we’re at it, maybe Raven could make Captain some sandwiches,” Train along with the other two laughed at this comment. I even saw Bepo smirk, though I’m not sure why it’s so funny. Law turned around with his index finger raised. Shachi and Penguin hugged onto each other in fear and I found Train doing the same to me, probably for other reasons though.

“We’re sorry, Captain!” they all yelled in unison. As Hat-kun turned back around I elbowed Train in the head.

“Where exactly do you think you had your hands?” I asked as he rubbed the bumps on his head. He sat there and stared into my eyes a couple of seconds before laughing with a closed eyed grin.

“That’s the closest thing to anger that I’ve seen from you,” he began laughing even harder. I hit him on the head one more time for good measures before walking off to catch up to the rest of our group. What the hell is his problem?

When we arrived at the house we took a seat towards the back, surrounded by the snobby rich. Hat-kun was to my left and Shachi to my right. I tried to occupy myself by staring at the people around me but I become too disgusted. I caught a snippet of a conversation that seems interesting and concentrated on that.

“I mean, we’re not the nicest of guys, but at least we have our charming side, ain’t that right, Killer?” I didn’t recognize the voice, but I did the name. Killer was the masked man fighting earlier.

“What are you staring at, Raven-ya? Found something interesting?” Hat-kun chuckled.

“Not staring, listening,” I gave him a curt reply, hoping to keep hearing the conversation. He raised an eyebrow.

“On the back wall to you’re right,” I muttered barely able to make out the words of the conversation behind us.

“Boss Kidd, look over there…”

“Hm? Now, that face looks familiar…”

I could then tell that Hat-kun was also listening because he smirked at that remark.

“That’s the guy from North Blue, with the two hundred million bounty, Trafalgar Law… I’ve heard rumors about him, and they weren’t pleasant.”

“Are you just going to let them insult you like that?” I teased and the captain smirked.

“I suppose your right.” He turned around, still smirking, and gave them the finger. I turned around for the first time and saw a man with flaming red hair smiling back at Hat-kun while muttering something. When Trafalgar turned back around the red haired pirate winked at me. I rolled my eyes and faced forward. “This is getting boring, wake me up when it begins,” Hat-kun said then closed his eyes and laid his head back on the seat. A few minutes later a booming voice sounded from the speakers.

“Well, then, it’s time to begin the auction!!!” I idly scanned the room, watching the reaction of the nobles and find myself sick at the anticipation and excitement on their faces. Hat-kun cracked open one of his eyes and stared at the stage. And so the human auction began.
