"WHAT'S THE FORMULA FOR VALIUM?" Daphne heard and she closed her eyes tighter.

"C16H13ClN2O" She heard a high pitched voice say.

"Incredible."

"She's so young, how does she know that?"

"Her father taught her that, and so much more."

"This is one of the ones you want to send into the maze?"

"Her and her sister."

"The runner?"

"I've never seen someone her age run like that."

"You can't send her into the maze! She's a scientific anomaly, we need to run more tests."

"God, do they ever stop talking?" Daphne heard a British voice say as an image of a 15-year-old blonde boy appeared.

"You can't get to attached to him, Daph," That was Trinity's voice now, she could recognize that anywhere. "You realize that some of us disappear every day, right? One day it's either gonna be him or us."

"I don't want you to go."

"I swear to you, darling, I'll always be with you." He whispered.

"Newt!"

"Daphne!"

She shot up, panting as she clung to her chest. Daphne's eyes widened as she remembered flashes of dream. She ran her hands through her hair, tying it back before crawling out of her sleeping bag.

Once again sitting at the edge of the river, Daphne tried to slow her breathing while attempting to make sense of what she saw.

She knew Newt.

That's why she trusted him so easily. Why just his smile brought her comfort, and his voice seemed so familiar.

"Daph?" She turned around to see Newt standing behind her. "You alright?"

She nodded, looking back at the ground. Newt sat next to her, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Can't sleep again?"

Daphne nodded again, not wanting to speak and Newt spoke again, "Alright, do you some water? You hungry?"

"I just want to sleep." Daphne finally spoke, laying on the grass.

"Alright," Newt laid next to her. "Try to sleep."

"Geez, thanks genius, never thought of that." She mumbled and Newt laughed slightly.

"You know, you've got a bit of a sass that one doesn't expect." Newt smirked. "I don't mind it, it's just unexpected."

"It's from growing up with Trinity, otherwise she would've just picked on me all the time," Daphne sighed. "Not that I remember growing up with her, I just remember that I grew up with her—God, my brain is so scattered. It's like there's a bunch of files all over the floor that are disorganized-"
