Hermione’s POV
Draco dragged me to Hogsmeade, with an excited gleam in his eyes. It seemed like he’d already thought about what we were gonna do. Would he do that for me?
“Mione, where do you want to go first?” he asked me.
“Anywhere?” I said, and he nodded enthusiastically. “Then lets go to Zonkos!”
We walked into the small joke shop, and I was sadly reminded of Fred’s death. Fred and George could make anyone smile, no matter how sad they were. I wished they were still here. I pushed the sad feelings to the back of my mind, and followed Draco. I looked around for a while, and soon realized that Draco was nowhere to be seen.
“Draco?” I called.
“Y- yeah?” was he panting? He came over to me and I noticed that his cheeks were flushed- from the cold? Where had he been?
“Do you want to go now?” he asked, pulling me back to reality.
“Wha- oh yeah, sure.”
“Lets go for something to eat. Do you want to go to the Three Broomsticks or the Hog’s Head?” he asked, raising his voice over the wind.
“Uh, lets go to the Hog’s Head; it’s quieter over there.”
“Okay, c’mon.” He brought me into the cozy warmth of the Hog’s Head, and I immediately remembered the man with long, white hair and sparkling blue eyes.
“Good evening, Hermione. I didn’t think I would see you here anytime soon.” said the warm voice of Aberforth Dumbledore.
“Aberforth! It’s so nice to see you again! A table for two, please.” I replied.
“I see. Are you here with your boyfriend?” he said. I looked over at Draco, blushing. I saw that he is doing the same.
“No!” we said in unison. Aberforth chuckled.
“Okay, okay; follow me.” He led us to a table in the corner of the room. As we sat down, a thought came across my mind.
“Aberforth, do house elves work here?” I asked him.
“Well, I do have one, but he mostly helps with the cleaning.” he replied. “So, what would you two lovebirds like to eat?”
As we ate, I could tell we were both thinking, and the silence wasn’t awkward. The last time I saw Aberforth was last year, when he helped us defeat Voldemort. I smiled, and finished my food. We paid and left; it was getting dark. As we walked up, Draco stopped me.
“Um, well, I just wanted to say happy birthday, and uh- this is for you.” he said awkwardly. He took his hand out of his pocked, and revealed a beautiful green necklace with a gold chain. I gasped and blushed.
“You got this- for me?” I asked in awe.
“Yeah, but if you don’t like it, its alri-”
“Are you kidding? I love it!” I blurt out, cutting him off. I ran over and tackled him in a hug, making him blush.
“Wait, how do I know it’s not cursed?” I asked, and he chuckled.
“It’s not cursed, hexed, enchanted, or anything. I should know. I made it.” he said proudly.
“You made this?” I asked incredulously. “How?”
“Magic. Duh,” he said sarcastically, which made me slightly irritated.
“Huh. Who knew.” I said, putting on a serious face.
“What?” he asked apprehensively.
“Who knew that a ferret called Draco Malfoy would make Hermione Granger, the brightest witch of her age, a beautiful necklace?” I asked jokingly.
“Shut up,” Draco said, laughing. “Come here, let me put the necklace on you.”
We went straight to the common room after that; we weren’t hungry after eating in the Hog’s Head. As I lay in bed, I study the necklace further, and I noticed there was an emerald heart, and tiny rubies surrounding it. 'Hmm, it's both the Slytherin and Gryffindor colors. I wonder if Draco noticed that.' I thought to myself, before I drifted into unconsciousness.
