Draco's POV

Hermione and I went straight to the Hogwarts library the next day.  Hermione was easily able to get access to the restricted section, even though we counted as visitors.  We ran to the section and Hermione grabbed every book on curses there were.  I grabbed some too and we sat at a table in the restricted section.

"So what exactly are we looking for?" I asked, flipping through a book on dark curses.

"The spell," Hermione answered wisely. "Find the spell and we find what it's about."

"We're not exactly Hufflepuffs," I mumbled and she let out a small chuckle.  Hermione let out a quiet gasp.

"You found it?" I leaned over her shoulder and saw where she was pointing.

Mortuus est autem vera dilectio: More commonly known as the Curse of Lover's Poison. Any spell that is casted by the cursed to their true love will kill them. If a spell is not casted by the cursed lover's date of birth, they both will die on the spot; the lover will receive a slow and painful death.

Hermione slammed the book closed and ran her hands through her hair.

"That curse was meant for me, Hermione," I reminded her quietly. "You would have died instantly; it was your birthday."

She looked up at me, tears in her eyes. "But now you're going to die! Or both of us, for that matter!"

I wiped the tears from her face. "Hey, like you always say, we'll be okay!"

She chuckled. "I do hope so... Let's see if we can find the counter curse." She re-opened the book and skimmed the page. After a few moments she pointed to the bottom of the page.

The Curse of Lover's Poison has two known counter-curses. Either the spell-caster removes it, or Death of the person's lover that it was casted on.

"Well, we know my father's not going to reverse this," I mumbled sadly.

"Uh...when Harry and Ron find him, maybe they can force him to do it?" Hermione said hopefully.

"No.  I know that man, and he casted that curse; I doubt he'll undo it," I put my face in my hands.

I felt Hermione touch my shoulder. "Hey, it's going to... to be okay," She choked out, though stronger than ever.

"As long as I have you, I think everything is going to be okay," I said and smiled sadly.

"C'mon, we should be getting back," she said, kissing my cheek. "It's getting late."

"Yeah," I said, "And we sort of need to clean the apartment up."

Hermione looked up at me and sighed. "The apartment, Draco! The muggle police will find out eventually that those other muggles are dead!" she exclaimed.

"Oh my God, that's bad." I muttered, "We... we can't just tell them the truth!"

"Of course not, but the police will probably think the muggles had some sort of heart attack or something, considering they basically just dropped dead," Hermione explained sadly.

"Let's not think about it right now," I said, trying to cheer her up.

"Innocent muggles are dying again!" she cried, leaning her head on my shoulder."I know," I murmured quietly, "But we have to stay strong; we have to be strong and avenge them."

"My parents were innocent, too," I heard her whisper.

I stroked her hair, "I know, and I'm so so sorry."

She nodded and looked at me, drying her eyes, "You're right. We're going to break this curse and then we'll start a family."

I smiled lightly, "Definitely," I kissed the top of her head. "Now, let's go home," she took a deep breath and took my hand.  We walked out of Hogwarts and out to Hogsmeade where we could apparate home.
