Hermione’s POV

‘Well, I wasn’t expecting that. Draco bloody kissed me! Does he fancy me? Do I fancy him? I don’t know yet.’ I was thinking as I tried to fall asleep. ‘We have been here for three days; is anyone worried?’ I turned over, and noticed Draco staring at the fire, not sleeping either.

“Draco, are you asleep?” I asked quietly.

“Yep” He replied, popping the ‘p’.

“Ha- ha, very funny.” I sat up. It was dark, and instead of doing the ‘Lumos’ spell, I cast my Patronus. Draco watched, in awe, as the silver otter danced around the room.

“Can’t you do a Patronus Charm?” I asked, and he shook his head. “Okay, I’ll teach you. Think of a very happy memory, and say Expecto Patronum.”

“Okay, fine.” He closed his eyes, and whispered the incantation. Sure enough, a big silver animal with wings came out and flew up to my otter; I looked at it in awe.

“It- it’s.. it’s a dragon?” I asked. He scowled, wordlessly saying ‘duh!’

Obviously. What do you think my name means?” Draco told me. Huh, I never thought about his name before. “Well, now that you are set on making me stay up, what do you want to do?” Draco said.

“Chess?”  I scrunched up my face, wished for a chess set, and with a small crack, a black and white muggle chess set appeared in front of me.

Draco’s POV

I couldn’t sleep. Turns out Hermione couldn’t either, and she taught me that charm that keeps Dementors away. When she said I had to think of a happy memory, I was slightly surprised; I didn’t have very many. I thought of earlier that day, when I kissed Hermione, and said the spell. My Patronus is a dragon! That’s so bloody cool.

Hermione just conjured a chess set. I know I’ll win; no one can beat me.

“I wanna be white.” I said, and she turned the chess set around, so the white side was facing me. “Pawn three to E4.” I said, but nothing happened; Hermione burst out laughing.

“It’s a muggle chess set, dummy! You have to manually move the pieces!”

“Fine.” I said, a challenging glint in my eye as I moved a white knight. “Your move.”

Hermione’s POV

After our chess game (which I won, but Draco said it didn’t count because it was a muggle chess set, not wizard), Draco fell asleep; I couldn’t sleep, so I walked over to the bookshelf and picked out a book called Anne of Green Gables. I wished for a few beanbags, plopped down, and started reading. A few chapters in, I heard a rustling noise and looked up, alarmed; but it was just Draco shifting around on the floor. He looked so peaceful, much different when he was scowling or smirking. His hair draped down, touching his eyes; and he had a slight smile on his face. 'What happened to him, how he got to be such a jerk? Before, I heard him mutter something about his father; I'll ask him in the morning.' I thought, as I finally drifted off to sleep.

Draco’s POV

I woke up quite early; it was still dark outside- inside? We are inside, right? I looked over and saw Hermione sitting on a beanbag, a book open on her chest, and smiled to myself. We have to get out of here! I was trying to think up ways to get out- to no avail. I fell back asleep to a later time.

As I woke up again, I noticed Hermione was awake, and reading.

"Hey, I'm up." I said to her.

"Yeah, I noticed." She replied, not looking up from the book. "Got any ideas on getting out?"

"No. We have been here a week; I wish a door would just appear." As I said that, a loud wind blew outside, shaking the door. I went outside, and there was a glowing door, like the one that led into the forest.

"Hermione! A door! It might lead us out!" I exclaimed excitedly, already rushing over to it. "C'mon, let's get out of here." I yanked open the flowing white door, and to my immense relief, I am face to face with the Seventh Floor corridor in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I take a very confused Hermione through, and run to our common room, glad that we are finally out. I look at the huge portrait of Dumbledore and ask:

"Professor, how long were we gone?" He looked down upon me through half- moon glasses.

"Oh, I don't know, about... two hours?" Two hours? How is that even possible? I mutter the password.

"You should change the password soon" Dumbledore says merrily, as the picture swings open; but I have a feeling he knows more to this than we think.
