Draco’s POV
I flopped onto my bed, breathing shallowly. ‘Oh no, what should I do?’ As I was immersed deep into my own thoughts, I heard a gentle knock at my bedroom door. I was panicking, hoping Hermione wouldn’t bring up what I said earlier.
“Come in.” I said softly. Hermione burst in, breathing heavily.
“Follow me, I need to show you something.” I reluctantly got up, not wanting to annoy her. She led me out of the common room, through the corridors, and down the stairs until we got to a picture of a redhead, somewhat resembling the Weasel King. I heard a faint explosion from the desk behind him, but then he walked up close, blocking the background.
“Ah, Hermione, back so soon?” the redhead said to her.
“Draco, this is Ron’s older brother, Fred. Fred, this is Draco Malfoy.” Hermione said calmly indicating first to him, then to me.
“Oh, so now I finally get the privilege of meeting the spoiled git who always tormented my friends?” He snorted sarcastically; I looked down in shame. Hermione, on the other hand, was staring him down with intense ferocity.
“Fred Weasley, if I could slap you right now, I wouldn’t hesitate” she said, and he cringed.
“Sorry, ‘Mione. But do you know how much you sound like mum?” He said with a crooked grin, but his eyes were clouded with immense despair. “And sorry, Malfoy, you deserve another chance. Let’s start over, yeah?” He asked me.
“Yeah. I just want you to know that I thought you were really cool, pulling pranks and all that stuff.” I said honestly. I had to admit, although my father hated the Weasleys, I thought they were quite amusing.
“Thanks, man. Listen, you two better go, I think I hear Filch’s hairy, overgrown rat coming. It was nice meeting you.”
“Thanks, Fred!” Hermione grabbed my wrist and we dashed off to the common room. “We have classes tomorrow, so get some sleep.” I said hurriedly.
“Okay, goodnight, Draco.”
“G’night, Hermione” I said as we went to our separate rooms.
