Excuse the mistakes... and the title of the chapter... I don't really understand it either.

“Eli!”

The sound of Dot screaming my name jolted me awake, and my eyes snapped open as I sat straight up. However, when I looked around, I didn’t see my mate; only the confines of my bedroom at the pack house.

“Eli!”

As her voice slammed into me once more, I realized that Dot’s scream was coming from inside my head. She was using the mate link.

“Dot!” I thought, focusing on projecting the message to her, “Dot, are you okay?”

“No.” Even through the mate link, Dot sounded broken. “Please, Eli, I can’t fight anymore. It hurts so badly.”

“Where are you?” I asked urgently, “Can you tell me anything about where you’re being held?”

“Kane’s not by himself,” Dot replied, “there are other rogues here. I only know of Ben and Carter, but—”

Dot’s voice cut off and our connection went blank. I called her name over and over, but she didn’t reply. Suddenly, there was a terrible burning sensation in my side, and I grunted in pain. I knew I was feeling what Dot was feeling, only it was dulled compared to what she was going through.

Carter.

In the moment the pain subsided, I realized that I knew who Carter was. He was the rogue who ran the boarding house I had stayed at. If he was with Kane, Dot could be at that house!

I lurched off of my bed, and I flew out of my room and down the hallway. I didn’t stop running until I was in front of Bo’s office. Without knocking, I burst into the door, but the room was empty.

I let out a sound of frustration and hurried from the room. I started searching for Bo, or even Fae, throughout the rooms of the pack house, but I couldn’t find them. Finally, I saw Adam pacing in the kitchen, and I sighed in relief. He would know where Bo was.

“Adam!” I called, stepping into the kitchen.

“Eli,” Adam replied, regarding me coldly. I knew immediately that he blamed me for Dot’s abduction, but I couldn’t object; I felt the same way.

“Where’s Bo?” I asked urgently, “I think I know where Dot is!”

“What?” Adam cried, and he glanced at a wide-eyed Violet, who was perched on the kitchen counter. Adam’s head swiveled back to me and he had this horrified look on his face. “Eli,” he started, “Bo took my mom, dad, and even Alpha Tyson with him to the western part of the territory to search for Dot. He said one of the patrols picked up a foreign scent.”

“No, no, no,” I moaned, rubbing my forehead in frustration, “That’s in the complete opposite direction from where they need to be!”

“What do you mean?” Adam asked, taking a step towards me, “How could you know that?”

I sighed and leaned against the wall. “I made contact with Dot through the mate link. She didn’t know where she was, but she mentioned that there was a rogue named Carter there, and I know him. I stayed at his house a couple days before I came here.”

“Then there’s a good chance she’s there,” Violet said, voicing my thoughts. She and Dot had immediately become friends when Adam and claimed her, and she was really nice and smart. However, I’d seen Violet in action, and she was fierce.
