The room is quickly filled with the sound of violins. Sitting up the front of the class I see Asher, Amy and Dayna. I focus on Asher's perfect playing. One note after another playing in sync. The determination spreads across his face during what he calls the 'tricky' part. It was played to perfection. A single long note is played and the piece is finished. The sound of violins is quickly replaced with applause.
Asher turns towards me and raises his eyebrows as if to say, 'did you like it?' I nod and he smiles back. His musical ability is perfect. I so desperately wish that we can work together one day.
"Thanks for that amazing performance!" Mrs Williams says. "Now, has anyone got any feed back."
"Well, I really liked their performance. You could really tell that they had worked really hard to get their performance to that level," I say.
"Yep, you definitely could," Mrs Williams replies. Several other comments are added before Mrs Williams tells us some important information. "Now, we must get working on pieces for the talent show. You can work by yourself or work in groups. It's up to you, just maybe talk to people and find out what they were thinking of doing. I would really love if all of you could audition whether it's as a solo or a group. So let's just gather some ideas first."
"Maybe a string quartet?" Asher suggests.
"Or what about a small flute group?" I pitch in.
"What about a band?" Dayna adds.
"We could try a small vocal group," Amy says.
"All of those are great ideas, so why don't you list some ideas in your books for what you could do for the talent show," Mrs Williams informs the class. Asher packs up his violin and then walks back to his seat which is perfectly across from me. I look up and he smiles at me. I drop my head and write a list of performance ideas in my book.
