Three hours later there was a knock at our door and both of us grumbled as Jarvis quietly announced "You have a special visitor waiting in the hallway. Would you like me to allow them entry?"
"Special visitor?" I said sleepily wondering who it could be.
"I guess let them in and see who it is?" Abby said, unsure whether this was a good visit or not.
We'd both fallen asleep with Arn between us in our arms while still clothed even as the days and nights were blurred from having a newborn. "Jarvis, go ahead and let them in."
"At once sir."
The door beeped and as it swung open both of our jaws hit the floor as my parents walked into the room and smiled at us. "Hello dear how is he doing?" Frigga whispered doing her best not to disturb Arn while she gently snored away.
"He is doing good, he's sleeping which is a miracle in and of itself." Abby said smiling. "I'm not used to seeing you guys here, I wasn't sure when we'd be able to make it to Asgard for you to meet your grandson."
"Oh don't you worry about that. You're both new parents, and you need to heal after that birth." Frigga said as she looked over at Arn and made the cutest faces she could before looking back at Odin and smiling. "I so miss these years when they sleep so peacefully."
"I know you do my dear. But neither of us are young anymore, it's not like we could bounce back from no sleep at night."
"Oh please, I don't feel a day over eight thousand and you sure don't show your age at all."
He smiled at her and kissed her on the forehead before looking to us. "My son you've done so well as a father, I know I've taught you well."
"Ah, so you've been watching us then." I said, normally this would have annoyed me but since they were most likely just checking up on their grandson I wasn't nearly as bothered by it.
"Well yes, and Abby I am sorry I didn't ask your permission but I did try to help a little during the birth with how you tore and how easily he came out, I hope you won't be too mad at me for staying hidden. I wanted to make sure you both survived, I don't think any of us could bear to lose either of you." Frigga said.
There was a little sadness to her eyes and I wondered why she wouldn't have just asked about it. There was no reason for us to deny her being here for the delivery, okay maybe it would have been a little weird for my mother to see my son being born, but that was a whole different story. "You do know that we would have been okay with you both coming and staying for the delivery right?"
"Wait, is this like the last time you visited?" Abby asked.
Odin's eyes widened and he looked at his wife questioningly as she responded. "I sent a shade down to check on her and see if there was anything we could do to help. It wasn't a big deal."
"But it was a big enough deal that you didn't tell me about it?" he countered.
"Because anytime that I leave the castle you insist on me taking a dozen guards with me anywhere I go. And I am not bringing them here while visiting my daughter-in-law and my grandson. So just go be mad somewhere else." she waved a hand dismissively and both of us chuckled a little bit.
Odin just stared at her and huffed before looking to me and saying "Women."
"I understand how you want her protected father, but we have the Avengers here. There's also the Iron Legion. Nothing is going to happen to any of us here. Actually I think it's safer here than on Asgard."
His eyes widened. "They would really use their full power to protect her?"
"Of course. They protect any innocents they can, and mother would be safe here."
