Chapter 15 (Loki)

After hearing that she was carrying our child I couldn't breathe. This was the moment I was both terrified and excited for. We'd talked about having children of course, but it was always in the future tense where it could happen one day, many years from now.

"I can't believe it. I just— I didn't think we were going to have a child anytime soon." I said.

"Wait... are you upset that—"

"No, but it just really surprised me and I don't really know what to say. I'm speechless."

"Wow, you? That's incredible."

I stared at her for a second and then broke out into a smile. "I can't even imagine another me running around."

Her eyes went wide and she stuttered. "Maybe this isn't a good thing." She joked, I feigned being wounded and she laughed. "I know, another little shapeshifter...shit does that mean he or she would get those powers of yours? Because I could just see them shifting into one of us to fool the other."

I hung my head and said "Well, I did that to father. Mother always knew when it was me so she would say no, father never was able to guess me from her though."

"That doesn't make me feel any better you know?"

"Yeah, sadly I know that." I thought about what other things I'd done as a child and scrubbed a hand down my face saying "We are so going to be in for a long time of no sleep with them."

"Were you really that bad? And I'm wondering why I even asked that." She said smiling.

"Okay Kitten, this is going to sound rude, but can we figure out one thing before we go much farther?"

"What's that?" She asked wrapping her arms around herself like she was expecting the worst.

"Where are you going to spend the pregnancy? We know that you can't travel through the bifrost when you're a little bit farther along. I don't want us living here where you and the young could be at risk of not just hypothermia but also from revolution."

She stared me in the eye and stepped forward so I could wrap my arms around her. "I think I would like to have our child back at my house on earth."

I nodded and kissed her on the head. "What else would you like during this pregnancy?"

"There's a lot that I've figured out that I want to do, but what about you? Isn't there anything that you want to do?"

I took a moment to think about it and said "I honestly have never really thought about it because I never thought I would have any children to be honest."

She looked at me for a moment and her eyes showed how sad she was as she said "I am so glad then that we are together and having a child. Now you will finally have the chance to show what a great father you can be."

"What if I fuck it up though?"

"You won't. Because you love me, and you'll love our child. There's no chance you'd mess it up because of that." She said as she held onto me tightly.

"I love that you have so much confidence in me, Kitten."

"How could I not? I have looked to you through your worse and now during your best. I have always known who you truly are." She said softly, her voice bringing me comfort. "Can I ask you something?"

"Of course." I brought her over to the bed with me and helped her settle into my arms.

"What happens if our child is more Jotun? What if he or she comes out and is too warm?"

"We will figure that out when we get to that point because I honestly don't know." I told her softly. I wanted to get her off of the planet as soon as I could so that her unit wouldn't mess with them and I wanted to make sure she really was healthy. "Are you sure Banner won't tell anyone? Or does your father already know?"
