Chapter 2

Triton

Hinihingal akong lumabas sa rink at tinanggap ang mahigpit na yakap ng best friend ko. Standing quietly beside us, I could still feel the man's stare at me.

"Sino 'yung katabi mo?" I whispered to her.

"Huh?" Bumitaw siya sa akin at tumingin sa kapaligiran. "Who?!"

"The one beside you. The guy you were talking with just a few minutes ago..." bigla akong nahiya nang ngumisi 'yung lalaking tinutukoy ko. I should've just whispered to Rayiane.

She finally understood what I meant. "Ah! You're talking about him?! I'm not sure why he's here, but who cares?" She faced the guy. "This is Triton, my schoolmate! Tri, say 'hi' naman to my best friend!"

"Done. My camera did it for me," his voice isn't that deep; it's quite gentle, yet I did hear the slight raspiness in it.

Mas lalong lumaki 'yung ngisi niya nang pumihit ako para makita 'yung DSLR niya. I paused when I noticed the dimples on his cheeks. It's not that hard to not notice because they would appear with just a slight movement of his mouth.

Clearing my throat, I smiled at him. "Can I see my photos?"

"What if I don't intend to show them to you?" he replied cockily, eyes narrowing down at me.

For a moment, I was actually at a loss for words. I didn't mean to stare, but it seemed like there was a magnet that pulled me in. One look at his eyes felt like I was suddenly surrounded by nature; it was compelling and amusing to think what was lying beneath those mesmerizing green almond-shaped eyes. But his long and thick eyelashes would hide them from my sight whenever he closes his eyes. I thought he put eyeliner on his waterlines, but no...

His skin tone is a bit darker than mine. His straight, medium chocolate brown hair is kinda messy; but maybe he did that on purpose. I don't know much about men's haircuts, but it looked so good on him. I'm quite tall, so I don't have to look up just to see his face. Without wearing the ice skates, the top of my head would probably be just an inch above his shoulders.

His angled eyebrows are thick and untamed. He had a pointed nose, but not overwhelming. His lips look so healthy and moisturized; they are thin, but the lower lip is a bit plumped compared with the upper one. And who wouldn't notice that sharp jawline? My gosh! It could cut through the stone!

He's sporting a green hoodie that represents his university. It was partnered with jeans and old-school sneakers. His foreign features are screaming that no one could even avoid it. This guy has no... ugly features at all. He's very attractive according to my standards.

His jaw clenched when he put up a mischievous grin on his face for he knew that I was ogling him. Tumikhim ako at nag-iwas ng tingin.

"No problem. It's not like you were the only one who took my photos. I can always look for them everywhere," I shrugged my shoulders and walked passed by him.

"Hey, wait!" Rayiane called as she followed me.

Hindi ko muna pinansin ang aking kaibigan habang tinatanggap 'yung mga bouquet na galing sa mga manonood. I thanked them sincerely for I didn't expect that they'd treat me so warmly.

Mrs. Fuentes smiled at me. "As expected from you, dear! You danced with a grace that I forgot about your injury! I got carried away! I can't wait to watch the World Championships!"

"Thank you, Ma'am! It's an honor," naramdaman ko ang pagkalabit ni Rayiane sa akin.

"What happened in there? Where's my humble queen?" maingat, ngunit mariin niyang sinabi.
