Chapter 4
Father, who?
I haven't had a good sleep until last night. I was used to waking up early because of my training; but surprisingly, the sun has already risen when I opened my eyes.
I did my morning rituals and stepped out of my room.
"Good morning, Dad!" I gave him a peck on his cheek.
"Good morning, anak," he greeted back and we went downstairs together.
I grinned at him as I already knew what he was thinking.
He put his arm on my shoulders and smirked at me. "Triton Viglianco, huh?"
Tagging a man in my posts—I've never done that before.
"Good morning din!" He chuckled and kissed her lips. "But what do you mean, babe?
'Tapos 'pag naging sila, todo simangot ka naman," she said and spread her arms as I neared her.
"Mama, we're not even close!" I hugged her and she kissed my cheek. "He just simply took a photo of me. That's all."
"Okay. Enough of Triton. Let's just eat.
He cleared his throat. "Yeah, no more Triton..."
I smirked 'cause Daddy looked like a lost puppy when he followed Mama to the dining room. Only she can do that to him.
Just like usual, both of my parents have to go to work. My mom will launch a new product soon; her company sells drugstore makeup and it was considered the most successful brand in Asia, which allowed it to market its products and compete with highly established brands in the Western countries.
On the other hand, my brother went to school, so I was left alone at the house.
"I guess I'll have to break the rules..." I whispered while I was getting my new skates in my room.
It has a modern touch to it, but once I got inside, the coldness and the smell of the ice tripled my adrenaline rush.
Tita Harmony is an architect. I asked her to redesign it according to my liking as I didn't want the standard design; the color palette, some pieces of furniture, lights, and even the staircase radiating the simplicity and coziness of the Muji style interiors. The size of the rink was enough for my training and recreational use.
I pressed the switch and the bright lights immediately pointed toward the ice surface. I put on my skates and did the five-minute stretching before I hit the ice to do another series of warmups.
I trained in Canada for three years, but I decided to stay here after the incident. Iba talaga kapag nandito ako. It felt like home. I just wished the government wouldn't completely ignore this sport 'cause a lot of young people out there who loved figure skating couldn't always gain access to use the rinks at the malls—let alone pay for their training—or to even buy a new pair of ice skates.
