*Irene's Perspective* 3:00 p.m. (last class of the day)
*yawn*
I couldn't believe that I had almost made it through my first day of college and I was so excited to finally end the day off and take a power nap before my friends and I went out to the Night Market for a little while. The last class of the day was calculus and I was ready to head out as soon as the professor said that we could start to pack up our things.
DING! I dashed out of the classroom and pulled out my phone to see how long I could take a nap for so that I wouldn't be late to the Night Market that night. Thankfully, since it was the first day, the professors said that we wouldn't have homework for at least a week and a half, or at least until we started reviewing and/or learning material. My phone showed that it was 3:05 so I knew that I only had around four hours to sleep if I wanted to grab a quick snack before heading back to my dorm.
I stopped by the bakery to pick up a few pieces of bread so that I wouldn't have to head out for breakfast for the next few days. Afterwards, I took a pastry out of the heavy bag and started to munch on it when I ran into Wendy.
"Irene!" Wendy screamed out to me.
"Hi Wendy!" I screamed back.
Wendy came running towards me and took a small piece out of the cream horn I had been eating.
"Hey," I said in a playful voice. "I wasn't done with that yet." I made a small frown.
"Hahahaha." Wendy said, finishing the piece she had stolen from me. "So how did your first day go? I haven't seen you since lunch."
"Well," I started, "I really like the calculus professor, but the thing is, since it is the last class of each day, I don't think I will be able to focus that much in the class. But, I also really hate the creative writing class."
"But wasn't that your favorite class in high school?" Wendy said, while sneakily taking another piece of my cream horn.
"Yeah, but the professor just makes the whole class seem really boring and hard. Also, I really like graphic design now so it kind of evens out. What about you?" I asked Wendy.
"Um, well I have psychology and web design which aren't my favorite, but I LOVE public speaking, so I decided to sign up for debate club, which I should probably head to right now." Wendy said while looking down at her watch.
"So when does the club end today?" I asked while finishing the bread.
"Around 5:00 p.m. So, I will still have some extra time before we head out to the Night Market tonight." Wendy said.
"Cool. I'll see you later than, okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, definitely. Oh, this is where I head off to, bye!" Wendy said while waving goodbye before entering the giant building that was towering over me.
I started to make my way to the dorm which was only around a two minute walk from where the debate club was being held. I quickly made my way back to my dorm to see that Mina and Dahyun had already been sleeping in their small bunk beds.
Our dorm was separated into three different rooms; one main room which had the tiny kitchen and seating area and two small rooms with bunk beds, one for Dahyun, Mina, and I, and the other for Chaeyoung and Wendy.
As I quietly walk into the room, Chaeyoung soon follows through the door and we almost wake up Dahyun who was tossing and turning in her bed. Just as I was about to get into my small bunk bed, Chaeyoung whispers something to me.
"Hey, Irene." Chaeyoung says in a voice so quiet, I can barely hear her.
"What?" I ask, turning my attention over to Chaeyoung.
"The guy you sat next to in physics this morning came in to ask if he could talk to you or something? I don't really know. But he said he would be waiting outside for you. You should probably go talk to him, he sounds pretty serious if you ask me." Chaeyoung says while putting down her backpack to unpack some things in the main room.
"Thanks for telling me." I reply, while walking out of the room to spot that Jin is just on the wall, standing there, while looking at his phone in disgust.
"What is it that you just had to tell me, huh?" I say, just loud enough to scare him, but not loud enough to wake up my friends just inside of the dorm.
He jumps in surprise like he wasn't expecting I would actually come out here.
"Oh. Um...we need to talk somewhere more private where you won't scare anyone else." Jin says, still in shock.
We head outside to the park nearby the dorm area. It seems as if nobody else was outside except for some older students heading to town. It started to get really awkward, and Jin and I have just been sitting in silence as cars drive by outside of the main gate.
"So, what was it you dragged me here for?" I ask impatiently.
"Oh, right. So you know how we were sitting next to each other in physics?" Jin asks.
"Sadly." I mumble. "What about it?"
"Well, apparently we both fell asleep, and this is what happened." Jin replies while looking down at his phone to find a certain post on Snapstagram.
Jin shows me a post on Snapstagram and I start to open my eyes until they practically pop out.
"WHAT!?" I yell out so loud, that everyone as far as the senior dorm, which is in a whole different place in the university, can hear.
"Quiet down!" Jin exclaims through his lips.
"Sorry!" I say back, looking down at my fingers which are fidgeting.
"Are you alright? I thought this was pretty bizarre as well, but it's not like we can change anything now." Jin says.
I exhale a big breath that I had been holding in for the past 10 seconds.
"Yeah. I'm fine." I reply in a squeaky voice, trying to catch my breath before I pass out. "Well, we can always just pretend like nothing happens, and that we both just fell asleep, and coincidentally my head was on your shoulder. Okay?!" I scream back, not realizing the embarrassing thing that happened as soon as I entered college.
"Or...we could just pretend we are dating for a little while." Jin says back, trying to avoid eye contact.
My jaw just drops.
