Chapter 5 - New School, Same People

Summer was coming to an end, and Irene, Joy, Jin, and Chanyeol were beginning to move their stuff into their new dorms.

Irene's new roommates were Myoui Mina (Mina), Son Seung-wan (Wendy), Kim Da-hyun (Dahyun), and Son Chae-young (Chaeyoung).

Joy's new roommates were Im Na-yeon (Nayeon), Kim Jennie (Jennie), Kim Ye-rim (Yeri or Katy), and Park Ji-hyo (Jihyo).

Lastly, Jin and Chanyeol's new roommates were Kang Daniel (Daniel), Jeon Jeong-guk (Jungkook), and Min Yoongi (Suga).

One day, as Irene was carrying a heavy box of clothes, she couldn't see what was ahead of her and with Jin checking out his new video on "Eat Jin," they accidentally bumped into each other and fell on the ground with Irene's clothes now being a giant puddle sitting in the halls. Jin looked up and realized who he had bumped into.

Jin and Irene knew of each other but had no reason to talk to each other (this is only how much the public knew/assumed of course), but he still remembered that as they were auditioning for SM, she was with Joy and he saw them audition where Irene was on every beat of each move, but with Joy a little behind on each move. As he was blanking out, without realizing it, Irene had already left to go back to her dorm leaving Jin close behind. He finally got back on his feet and went to Irene's dorm to ask what that was about.

"What was that all about? Next time, just ask for an autograph." Jin said with pride.

"What do you mean?" Irene replied, confused.

"Y-You bumped i-into me to get an autograph r-right?" Jin asked, stuttering.

"No, I couldn't see what was ahead of me because I had a huge box of clothes. Try being more open-minded and watch where you're going next time." Irene said, shyly.

Joy was standing at the door. "Why do you have to be so mean to Jin, Irene? Are you just jealous of his fame? Or maybe even mine?" Joy said.

"What fame are you even talking about, Joy? Oh, are you talking about the fame you got for always making fun of me?" Irene said with a little fear of what Joy would do next.

"(scoff) Real shallow, Irene. I thought you were at least a little smarter." Joy said.

"What's everyone doing here? Park Soo-young, what did you do now?" Chanyeol interrupted.

"Nothing. I just found Jin and Irene talking in this SMALL and BLAND dorm." Joy said acting as if that was supposed to offend Irene or something.

"Well, what were you guys doing then?" Chanyeol focused his attention on Jin and Irene now.

"We bumped into each other in the hallways while I was trying to bring in a box of clothes. Then Jin just came here to ask why I bumped into him so suddenly." Irene said, speaking the truth.

"Sure, that was definitely what happened, Irene. What are you so shy about? Not ever being able to be with Jin? What actually happened Poo Bear?" Joy asked in an annoying flirty voice.

"That was what actually happened, Joy. Now, can you get off of me?" By now, Joy was all over Jin hugging him while looking up at him.

"Are you okay Jinnie Poo? What'd you do Irene, you could've injured him!" Joy screamed.

"How am I the evil one? I was carrying a giant box of clothes and Jin was just looking at his phone the whole time! Isn't he the one who is at fault?!" Irene exclaimed.

"Whatever. Let's go, Jin." Joy said, while sashaying away.

Everyone left the room after Chanyeol said a simple sorry for Joy's behavior and Irene was left there standing alone with tears all over her face. She had thought that after high school, Joy would be done with her. But apparently not. It was just like middle school all over again.

*flashback to middle school*

It was just during lunch. At her peace, Irene was munching on her sandwich while her two friends were talking about something. Joy had screamed across the lunch room for Irene's attention. Joy and her annoying friends, Jennie Kim and Im Na-yeon, had already been making their way over to where Irene was sitting. Nayeon had grabbed Irene's shoulder to turn her around so that she was facing them. All of a sudden, Joy screamed "FIRE!" and everyone had started throwing parts of their lunch toward Irene's table, where she and her friends were covered in all types of lunches.

"You really think that you can just steal who was supposed to be my lab partner?! You know that I was going to be partners with Jin! You were already picked to be with him last time and now we are able to choose our partners but NO! You just had to take him! Now I am stuck with Joshua, the boy who always cracks the worst jokes ever!" Joy yelled for the entire cafeteria to hear.

"I can explain. Last lab, we worked really well together, so he asked me if we could partner up aga-" Irene said in a shy voice.

"I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR STUPID EXCUSES! Just know that whatever is coming for you next, won't be the end of it!" Joy snapped back, interrupting Irene's sentence.

Irene ran for the bathroom sobbing with no one stopping her. Her only friends, Wendy and Mina, thought about running after her, but knew that they couldn't calm her down anyways, so they stayed to let her calm down on her own and talk back at Joy and her friends.

Irene thought that there was nothing left to do, but then a mysterious voice spoke to her through the bathroom walls.

"Hey, I saw what happened in the lunchroom. Joy is pretty heated at times. I just wanted you to know, if you don't want to talk about it, it's fine, but I'll be right here until you are ready." the anonymous voice said.

A couple hours had passed, and Irene was sure that the boy had already left. Just in case, she exited the building through the tiny window that was in the bathroom to avoid any contact. The next day, as she was passing by the bathroom on her way to her first class, she noticed a boy asleep by the door, and Irene found herself stupid that she didn't know who the boy was in the first place.
