Chapter 12

"Okay bye, Sap!" Karl quickly turns away from him, feeling embarrassed he just called him such a pet name. 'I mean, he probably didn't even notice... Right? It's just a nickname, it's not like I was saying wow you're really hot, and not even just because you're a fire demon,' Karl couldn't help but overthink what he just said. 

He forcefully pushed it to the back of his mind when he had reached his dorm; there was no red light underneath the door so he let himself in. When inside he sees his fellow student council members: Eret and Puffy. Puffy was sat on Eret's bed wearing the red school sweater along with a black skirt, her white curly hair just going past her shoulders and she had a single purple flower resting on one of her horns- most likely from a photoshoot with Eret. 

Eret was sitting at his own desk with his camera and he just so happened to be wearing the same thing Puffy was. The two of them were making small talk until Karl walked in making them stop to look at him. 

"Karl," Puffy says while picking up her phone checking the time. "You're ten minutes late," she gives Karl a questioning look, most likely because he is normally always on time. 

"Heh heh, sorry," Karl points to his clothes. "I had gym today, which by the way, you guys mind if I rinse off real quick?" 

Puffy sighs, "As long as you're quick." Karl nods and grabs his favorite multi-colored sweatshirt and a pair of jeans. Once he closes the bathroom door he turns on the shower and looks at himself in the mirror as he waited for the water to get hot. 

Karl fluffs his hair up and smiles at himself. He had no problem with how he looked, in fact, he thought he looked very attractive, he just worries about what other people may think of how he looks. For example, he used to be embarrassed about how he wanted to paint his nails, but luckily he had Eret to support him and give him confidence. 

Karl undresses and hops into the shower, letting the water wash away his sweat and grim. It felt amazing. One of Karl's favorite things about how he can stop time is when he can stop it when he is in the shower, allowing him more time to think about life. He stops time and stares off into the wall and chews on his bottom lip. 

"Wait..." Karl thought back to when they first left the locker room, and how Quackity and Sapnap said the gym shorts looked good, then Karl felt the blood run to his face. "Quackity said I looked sexy!" He covered his face as weird emotions that he didn't understand filled his chest. The confused male quickly unfroze time turned the cold water on, sending a shock to his system. 

"Nope, nope, nope, nope. Not going to fall for your ex's ex, he doesn't even like you, he has made that very obvious," Karl sputters out, then sighs. "And I mean, what are the chances that Sapnap would even like me?" He finishes rinsing off and turns off the shower. He then grabs his towel and dries off once again forcing the thoughts to the back of his mind. 

Once he gets dressed, Karl steps out of the bathroom and notices he was getting confused looks from both Puffy and Eret. "Uhhhhh, what's wrong?"

"How are you even clean? You were only in there for like, two minutes," Puffy questions. Karl feels himself start to sweat. 

'Crap, I forgot that I paused time in the shower,' he mentally panicked trying to think of an excuse. The downside to being able to stop time is that you also have to constantly make sure you do certain activities in a normal amount of time; Karl can get himself completely washed and cleaned while time is frozen, but normally stays in the shower for an extra five minutes so no one suspects anything. "I was, uh, mostly just washing off the sweat," Karl lied hoping that it would work. 

"Hmm, well just make sure you actually clean yourself, I don't want our room smelling like a gym," Eret joked, which Karl sighed in relief. 

'That was close.' Karl hadn't actually told anyone about it because, well, he doesn't quite understand how he got the ability in the first place. It's not hereditary and it's definitely not something you can just learn overnight. It's incredibly rare.
