Chapter 19

Karl and Quackity walked quietly side by side down the empty hallway to the lunchroom. Every now again Quackity would shift his eyes up to Karl's face who was smiling proudly and his eyes had a spark. Eventually, he just had to know why he did what he did. 

"Karl..."

"Yes?"

"Back there..." Quackity grabbed Karl's arm and making them both stop. "How did you know to help me?" 

Karl blushed and scratched the back of his neck. "Well, I knew you were lying to us and I also know how Mr. Schlatt is. So I used my student council abilities to figure out what class you had him, and then just waited until I thought you may need me I guess," Karl explained looking into Quackity's chocolate eyes. 

Quackity looked down at his feet embarrassed while putting his hands to his chest. "Okay, but then why did you even bother helping me?" 

Karl giggles and take Quackity's hand, intertwining their fingers making Quackity look at him in surprise. "I'm sure you'll understand in the future," is all Karl says which in return he receives a puzzled look from Quackity. "Come on, I'm getting hungry and I still want time to eat!"

Karl begins to speedwalk his way to the cafeteria, still hand in hand with Quackity.

Sapnap sits in the corner of a four-seated table in the cafeteria by himself with a hoglin n' cheese sandwich on the plate in front of him. He felt like everyone was staring at him, judging him because he was sitting by himself, and then within a moment, entering the cafe was his boyfriend holding hands with a familiar face. 

"Quackity?" He says to himself as he watches Karl pulling him around to get food. After they had both grabbed trays Sapnap could see Karl looking around, so he took the opportunity to wave him down. "Over here!" 

Karl spots him and excitedly walks over with Quackity right behind him. "Sapnap, look who I found!" 

Quackity hesitantly sets his grilled cheese and drink down in front of him and takes a seat next to Sapnap. "Hey," Quackity says with a little nod still unclear of the events that happened in the past ten minutes. 

"I didn't know you had this lunch," Sapnap said finally taking a bite of his sandwich now that he wasn't alone. 

"I didn't either until today," Karl replied popping a chicken nugget in his mouth. 

Sapnap pursed his lips and looked at his partner. "Oh yeah, where were you this morning?" 

---Flashback to this morning---

"Out of curiosity, why did we have to come here so early?" Karl asked Eret while yawning. The two of them were stood outside the main office in the school building waiting for someone to answer the door. 

"Because, Karl, I have to distract them while you sneak back and get the schedule for whoever or stalking."

"Hey! I'm not stalking, I'm looking out for them."

Eret sighs and shakes his head. "After all we've been through, you won't even tell me who it is," he said teasingly. 

Before Karl could remark the office door opened and stood the wolf hybrid receptionist, and she did not look pleased to already be bothered so early in the morning. 

"Yes?" She asked with a slight growl. 

Karl could hear Eret swallow hard and he walked beside her. "Ms. Darla Fang, can I call you Darla?" He asked while leading her into the office.
