5 THE JOB

A man in his 50s was sitting in the garden in a big mansion, reading an evening newspaper. A woman came and sat on the other chair beside him.

"Today Yibo is coming for dinner....!" Said the woman.

The man didn't respond, not even glance at the woman. He seemed to not bother about the news the woman brought.

"Is Sun Er coming back for dinner tonight?" The man asked the woman.

"Aigoo... You know today he needs to go out of the town, right?" The woman frowned.

The man only hummed while turned his newspaper to the other page.

"Tch! Stop hating your own son, Yilong...! Become a police is his dream since he was little...!" Said the woman.

"Why bother to meddle in other people business and endanger himself when his family has a business to be taken care of?" The man mumbled. He folded he newspaper and put it on the table.

"Just bear with his passion. He's not doing the wrong or useless thing. He's a Captain now!" Replied the woman.

"Do you think how much a police can earn? Not much, right? Unless he takes bribe....!" Said the man.

"If he listen to me, he can stay and own one of our houses and enjoy the luxury life. Not like now. He lives in a small apartment, no one taking care of his needs....!"

The man chuckled dryly. His small slanted eyes looked at the pond, where the fish are racing to get the food that the woman threw to them under the shallow fountain.

The voice of their Butler echoed from the front of their house. The woman got alert and got up from her seat.

"He's here already!" She said. Then she walked to the front yard, leaving the man who still stuck on his chair, looking at the fish that started to split after there is no more food on the surface of the pond.

Shortly, the woman and the young man, Yibo, who happened to be her youngest son of two siblings, sat on the dining table. The woman looked very cheerful welcoming Yibo.

"How's your work, Son?' asked the woman.

"As per normal. Investigating the crime, cath the criminals ..!" Replied Yibo.

"Ooh... You should choose to work in our company, instead...!" Said the woman.

"Where is the Old Man?" Asked Yibo, eyes wandering around looking for someone.

"He's coming. He still feeding the fish just now...!" The woman said.

"Sun Er?" Yibo asked again.

"He's out of the town...! Come! Let's eat! No need to wait for your father....!" The woman scooped some soup for Yibo.

Yibo took the bowl and drank the soup.

"I miss homemade cooking....!" Yibo commented.

His mother smiled. She opened her mouth about to speak when someone interrupts.
