That night

I can count the days might I have left on this earth. Two, possibly. Two days to do what I can to keep Robin alive.
Tomorrow are our private sessions with the gamemakers. I'm not really worried about what happens during mine, I'm going to throw some knives and shred some dummies, but what will Robin do? I guess he could try with a knife and maybe start a fire or build another shelter, but that won't get him a great score. And what about in the arena? How will I be able to find him after the Bloodbath?
All of this because of one stupid name. One stupid name in a bowl of thousands. I did everything I could, I took out all the tesserae, but he got called anyway. And now at least one of us isn't going to make it home.
I'm not going to get any sleep tonight. There's no point, especially if my dreams are just filled with worries. Instead, I walk out onto the balcony that is shared with Robin. Down on the streets, the citizens of the capitol are holding huge parties of bright flashing lights and loud music. I despise them, and the way the don't care about the innocent children that are going to die in the next few weeks.
I lean on the door to Robin's room. Through the glass, I can hear his sniffles and sobs. It sounds like he's crying.
I open the door and walk in. Robin is curled up on the bed and crying, as I expected. I sit down next to him and start fondling his hair.
His sobs quieten down a little bit but he keeps whimpering.
"Robin,"I whisper, "Robin are you okay?"
"No. She ruined it, Iris, she ruined it!"
"I'm sorry. I hate her too."
"I worked so hard..."
He breaks off into messy tears, so I stand up and walk over to the telephone in his room and press the button for District 4 female.
She picks up after 5 rings.
"You're a B*tch," I say, and hang up.
"Was that her?"
"Yes."
"But that'll just make her hate you more."
"What's done is done. And she hates me anyway,"
"I guess"
"Do you want me to stay in here while you go back to sleep?"
"Yes please,"
I sit on the edge of his bed, gently stroking his hair until his breathing slows and he falls asleep.
I can't be bothered to go back to my room, so instead I just fall asleep exactly where I am.

I'm being chased through the arena by Kamalyn. I spin around a shove a knife into her heart, but as she falls to the ground her skin peels off, revealing Robin standing under it. And he's dying.
Because I killed him.
