Berries

My head still hurts from the arrow, but at least the medicine helped. I stand up, disorientated, and pick up my bag. Which way did I come from? I can't remember, so I'll just pick a direction and go that way.
Eventually I decide on what I think is west. But, to be honest, I'm not sure. My inner compass broke when I went unconscious.
After about 25 minutes of walking, I spot a line of trees not too far away. Are they the same ones I walked away from a few hours ago? They must be. They have to be.
I start running towards the trees, mostly for the shade the provide. The heat has been driving me crazy.
At the edge of the trees is a berry bush. I bend down and pick a few, rolling them in my fingers. They must be so sweet and juicy...
Or they could be poisonous.
If training taught me anything, it was that anything in the arena could be poisonous. And these ones, these ones are nightlock. Carefully I pick a few handfuls and slip them into the capsule my sponsor gift came in. They'll fool anyone, I guess.
Time for my plan.
I pull out a few knives and shove them into my pockets, then hide my bag under the bush. Carefully I walk towards where I think the careers' camp is. After a couple of minutes I can hear them talking.
"We would have heard her cannon by now," says one of them.
"Maybe we just missed it."
"I killed her! I know she's dead!"
They're talking about me.
Sponsor gift in hand, I climb silently up a tree near them. Who's my target? Kamalyn, hopefully, but she isn't stupid enough. I guess I'll just drop it and whoever gets it dies. Quickly I dart my hand out of the branches and drop the capsule.
The parachute opens and drifts to the ground.
I watch tentatively as it lands and the boy from 2 picks it up.
"Who's it for?" Asks Rift.
"I don't know. It hasn't got a name."
"You have it then," says the girl who shot me earlier.
Greedily he opens it and shovels a handful of berries into his mouth.
A smile spreads across my face as he starts going very pale, then he tries to cough them out. But it's too late. He's already dead.
I half fall asleep, still in the same tree, even though my pack is lying hidden in the bush. Hopefully no one will find it, but there's a chance they will.
I'm jolted awake by the anthem playing in the sky. Was I asleep that long? I guess I needed it.
Marshal from 2.
Benedict from 4.
Rubella from 7.
The anthem plays again and the sky turns to black.
In the faint light of the moon I can see that the careers are no longer in their camp. They're probably out hunting for other tributes, since there are now only 5 of us left.
Quietly I climb down from my tree. I want to go straight back to where I left my bag, but there's also a small part of me that wants to see what stuff they have.
A sack of apples catches my eye. So fresh, something I haven't had in days. The temptation overcomes me, so I grab three and stuff them in my pockets.
Then I turn around and run back to where I hid my backpack.
Thankfully, it's still there.
I pull it out and shove my apples in. I'm also quite low on water, so I walk down to where I remember the stream to be. There are signs of a scuffle on the riverbank, which at first alarms me, but then I realise it's where Robin bumped into his killer either yesterday or two days ago. I bend over, water bottles in hand, and start filling them up. I'm almost finished when I notice a light blue shimmer in the water. It's a little badge with a blue gemstone in the middle. Robin's tribute token. Clementine has one too, except hers is purple. I shove it into my bag and take out the water purification tablets, drop one into each bottle and put them in too.
Footsteps and the crunch of leaves behind me. I whip around, terrified, and I am met with exactly what I expected.
The careers, standing together, smirking and holding their weapons.
"She's mine," sneers Kamalyn.
"I'm no one's," I snap pulling my backpack on.
"You sure about that District 9?"
"Don't know. How fast can you run?"
I don't wait for the answer. I'm off, over the stream and towards the rocks on the bank. Darkness is my weapon, I'm going to use it. They're hot on my trail, and if I slow down I'm dead. At least I still have knives in my pocket from earlier.
I dodge nimbly between a couple of rocks and duck behind one of them. The careers run straight past me and stop when they realise I'm nowhere to be seen.
"Where did she go?" Asks Rift.
"I'm not sure," replies the girl from one.
"See, if you'd actually killed her earlier, Crystal, we wouldn't be having this problem," snaps Kamalyn.
I laugh quietly.
"Did you hear that?" She asks, her hazel eyes searching the darkness, until they land on me.
"Oh hello little rabbit. Didn't see you there,"
I can't win 3 vs 1. I can't.
"Oh hello! I'm not a rabbit, as far as I'm concerned," I say, pulling out a knife, "because I don't think rabbits can throw knives."
It whizzes right towards her, but she dodges out of the way just in time. But now she's distracted and I can run.
Away through the forest I go, jumping fallen trees in one leap. A quick look behind me confirms that I am still being chased. Then suddenly, I slam right into something and fall to the ground.
Kamalyn pins herself on top of me. There's no escape now. Only death.

DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUN! Yeah dyou think she's really going die? I mean... Everyone dies at some point, but I'm not going to kill her off the day after Robin, I'm not like that. And also,  1000ish words! LOOOOOOOOONG chapter! XD
