After knowing that Titus is gone and it's just me vs the careers, I can't fall asleep again. Something urges me to stay awake, lying on a rock in the middle of a cold desert. You know, I'm surprised they haven't found me yet. Especially in such a weak condition, surely they would come and kill me now when I'm such an easy target. But it makes a bit of sense that they've kept me alive. If they killed me in my sleep, it wouldn't feel like they truly got revenge. And they're probably also counting on the fact that one of them will die fighting me, the other will kill me and that will be the end, but if I don't kill one of them then it'll be both fighting to the death. Boredom suddenly jumps into my thoughts, making me feel even more lonely than before. I begin randomly adding up numbers in my head, waiting for sunrise. 1, 4 and 9. The districts of the remaining tributes. They add up to make 14, an age I'll never leave and Robin never reached. I let out a long sigh and try to release my thoughts. Thinking about things that will never happen isn't the best pastime. Something cold and wet touches my ankle. What? I sit up, confused and terrified. Water is spilling out from under most of the larger rocks, in a very unnatural way. The gamemakers, they're flooding the arena, trying to drive me towards the careers. And it's going to work, because I can't really swim. I pull my bag onto my shoulders, get up, and start hot footing across the desert, avoiding rocks as best as I can. But soon the entirety of the desert floor is covered in sandy water. Where am I going? Probably toward the trees, if that's where the careers are. After half an hour of sopping wet progress and drenched socks, I'm finally starting to get away from the floodplains. The ground is still dusty and wet, but I can see my feet again, which is a relief. Finally I get out of the drenched ground back onto properly dry ground. And sure enough, about a kilometre ahead, is the forest where the careers are. I smile, not a happy smile but a smile of this is where the fun begins, and walk purposefully towards the trees, breaking into a run and finally into a sprint. When I arrive at my destination, I stop still and take a deep breath before walking straight in. First things first, I need to locate the career's camp, just so I know where to stay away from and where to go when I attack. Loud voices and movements lead me to them. In the same place as before, too. Really, you would think they had learnt. Why is their camp set up in the same way as before, hammocks between the trees, fire in the middle, a wall of supplies and food? Then it hits me. They never packed it up! But why should they, when everyone was going to the feast and wouldn't be around to take it. All of it looks so cozy, aside from the fact that there are 5 hammocks and only 2 people to sleep in them. Should I go and join them, kill both in the process, and win, or wait until a later date? I'll wait.
Not as long of a chapter this time, I wrote it on the bus (as usual) so I didn't have that long to write. So um bye ya'll.
