"Why are there eggplants in this?" Hyunjin said as he had a disgusted look on his face while poking at the plant.
"Probably because someone added it in there." Minho rolled his eyes at his brother's comment.
Hyunjin clicked his tongue as he pushed his dish aside, playing with his knife. "And explain to me why is that?!" He then threw the knife he was holding, straight towards a painting, hung on the wall causing a hole in the wall. "I made it very clear to the chefs that I despise eggplants and on top of that, carrots. How on earth can some imbecile not remember two crucial things?!"
The staff in the room flinched when Hyunjin threw his knife. Chan, who was one of the staff in the room, sighed. He was used to the prince's outburst, "Prince Hwang, may I remind you to not throw your utensils around. It's dangerous and you can end up killing someone." He then dismissed the other staff out of the room, leaving him, Hyunjin, Minho, and Jisung in the room.
Hyunjin huffed as he rolled his eyes, still grumbling about the food. "Get me whoever made this dish, here now."
"Hyunjin, that's the tenth time today that you fired one of our staff!" Minho exclaimed.
"And they should be lucky that I'm not executing them." Hyunjin shot back.
"Prince Hwang, we're already understaffed than it is and we can't afford to lose another one." Chan pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed again. "The head of the maids has already placed a request from the previous servants and maids you had fired and she can't place any more."
"Well, then that's too bad because I'm about to fire another one." Hyunjin boringly said.
Chan knew where this was going and furrowed his brows. "Prince Hwang, you can not fire me in any way. And even if you did, I'll still-"
"I'm well aware of that fact." Hyunjin said as he picked up his fork. "I've tried it multiple times when I was younger."
"Pardon my intrusions but I have a proposal that could fix both of you guy's problems." Jisung shyly said as he stepped into the conversation.
Hyunjin glared at Jisung as Minho protectively stood in front of him. "Throw that fork and I'll shove it up your ass." Minho threatens the younger.
"The thing you'll be shoving is your dick in Jisung's ass." Hyunjin pointed at Jisung with his fork, causing Jisung's cheeks to go red as he clutched Minho's shirt with his tiny fists.
Before Minho could make a witty comeback, Chan had stopped the two. "Jisung what is your proposal?"
"Well, I was thinking of announcing to the kingdom that we're looking for new workers in the palace. Since we can't hire specific ones we need due to the fact that they are all taken by other royal families. We can use the people who have already specialized in specific things to help us out." Jisung shared as he poked his head out behind Minho's back. "We can run interviews, tests, and do background checks on the applicants before hiring them."
"That's not a bad idea." Chan said as he looked at Hyunjin for confirmation.
Hyunjin avoided Chan's eye contact and placed his chin on his palm. "Don't look at me, I don't have that power to pass such a thing. I'm only the prince, remember?"
"You're heir to the throne." Minho said as he placed his chin on Jisung's shoulders as he sat back down, pulling Jisung down with him. "Besides dad doesn't care what you do. All he asks for is for us to not burn down the palace and his beloved kingdom. Plus he's gone with a trip with mom in Hawaii or something and he placed you in charge."
Hyunjin slumped in his seat as he twirled the fork around his fingers. "But why can't you be in charge?! You're older and being the substitute king sucks!"
"That's not how the hierarchy works. I'm not full-blooded like you, I only have mom's blood while you have mom and dad's. Plus I want nothing to do with being a king." Minho stuck out his tongue, teasing his brother.
Hyunjin groaned at his brother's comment while Chan was awaiting for the substitute king's comment. "Ugh fine, we'll post a notice on the kingdom's board. But you better do a thorough background check on the applicants. We don't want what happened nine years to happen again, now do we?"
"I'll personally go through all of the applicants' applications and background checks myself, to make sure that will never happen again." Chan firmly started.
"You can't possibly go through all of those files yourself." Jisung mumbled as he played with the older prince's fingers.
"Yes-" Chan tried to protest but got cut off by Hyunjin.
"Ask Changlix to help you, I trust them with my life as I do with all of you." Chan gave Hyunjin a questioning look while Jisung giggled softly, knowing what the younger prince meant. "I meant Changbin and Felix. Geez Chan you're my prime minister and you don't know the tea in this palace?! I don't think I can trust you with my life anymore."
"That's- That's irrelevant." Chan tried to defend his flustered self, which didn't defend his case quite well.
"Oh is it?" Hyunjin smirked in a taunting manner. "If you don't know anything that goes on between the workers here then what happens if one of them is planning to assassinate me or overthrow the king? Such minor things can be key details to treason, Channie."
"Never in my life would I ever expect to get a scolding from you, a good one top of it." Chan huffed.
"Yah!" Hyunjin threw the fork he was twirling around at Chan, who luckily dodged it in time.
"Yah! You could've killed me!"
Hyunjin rolled his eyes as he got up from his seat. "Well that'll be embarrassing, wouldn't it? You, a prime minister plus my bodyguard and all of those terms that I have no more brain cells to remember. Die from a fork that was thrown at a low speed by a prince. What a sad death." Hyunjin then waved his hands in the air in a rainbow motion. "Bang Christopher Chan, 1997-2021, died from a fork.... Pfffttt-"
"Get your flat ass over here!" Chan rolled up his sleeves as Hyunjin started to make a run for it.
"That is no way to speak to your future king!" Hyunjin screamed as he ran around the dining room.
"Who said I was speaking to the future king?!" Chan ran after Hyunjin. "I'm speaking to my dumbass friend that I was forced to take care of!"
Hyunjin then stopped at a pillar that was between him and Chan. "Aww, I know that you love me afterward."
"Hwang Hyunjin, once I get my hands on you, you're dead." Chan threatened.
Hyunjin stuck his tongue out. "And if you kill me, I'm going to make Minho report you for treason and, how does the queen of hearts say it? Ah! Off with your head!"
"Nah, this is a you problem and if anyone asked, I didn't see a thing." Minho smiled.
"What kind of brother are you?!" Hyunjin gasped. "Fine! I can trust Jisung right?"
Right after Hyunjin asked Minho lifted Jisung and headed out the room. "He's my servant and under my control. So no, it was nice seeing you. Ciao, see ya in hell in a few years."
"MINHO!" Hyunjin screamed as he ran out of the room, with Chan following close behind.
