That day, Midoriya was tired . He had his usual eight hours of sleep, yet he felt even more drained than a sloth who walked five miles (he was pretty sure sloths couldn't do that but that was the whole point so shush-). He said so to Koda when he met him for school, yet he didn't know how to help, so he just ended up buying Midoriya a coffee. Midoriya looked at him like he had painted the sun and shaped the world when he handed it to him.
Suffice to say, the freckled boy wouldn't have gotten through the first periods had it not been for the godsend that was coffee.
Aizawa noticed this too, and - although he tried so hard not to be soft towards the boy - let him off when he fell asleep multiple times in only the first period. He wanted to know why he looked so... Sleep deprived , since Midoriya should be giving himself enough sleep, but he couldn't exactly say that without being a hypocrite (and being called soft , which was just a no-).
Midoriya left at the start of lunch to Recovery Girl's office, oblivious to the confused and worried glances of his teacher and friend(s?).
Ten minutes later, Midoriya pulled back on his UA uniform blazer and spoke to Recovery Girl. " So, there's nothing wrong with me? You're sure?"
Recover Girl nodded, " Yes, you're perfectly fine, dear. I can't explain the tiredness, so maybe it's a hidden aspect of your quirk in some way. Anyway, you just tried to use your wings, right? They didn't come out, yet you say you can still feel the tingly feeling you get just before they do. You've also only known of your quirk for just under a year, so you don't know much about it. My guess is that something is preventing them from coming out-- like how Hawks needs to regrow his feathers when he uses too many. You said you don't have a drawback that is apparent yet, but this may be what it is. No powerful quirk like yours doesn't have a drawback."
Midoriya nodded. " That would actually make sense... I haven't used my flames as much as I did in the battle trial, before yesterday. Yet, in the training that I did, this never happened before, even when I flew for an hour straight. Kacchan said that the burns I gave him were from my wings, so maybe they gave off a large stroke of fire and went over the limit when it happened. That would make sense, I guess..."
Recovery Girl smiled, amused, as he muttered up a storm. She cut in, " Midoriya? I have a proposal."
He flushed pink slightly. " O-Oh, sorry, I was mumbling again, wasn't I? Bu-But yes? The... Proposal?"
The old lady nodded. " I have a friend. I helped them a while back, so they owe me. They have a quirk that lets them know the specifics of someone's quirk. It only works with specific questions however, like, 'What colour are Izuku Midoriya's wings?'. We could find out why your wings aren't working with their quirk."
Midoriya hummed and stifled a yawn, " I guess it's fine...? Only if they're free, though. I wouldn't want to burden them--"
Recovery Girl waved his words away, " No, no, dearie, I doubt they'd be 'burdened'. They love finding out about new quirks, so I'm sure they'll be happy with doing it."
Midoriya nodded, " Okay. If you say so... When should I come back for it?"
