Chapter 35: Quirk Marriages and Secret Love Children

Midoriya had gotten third place in the cavalry battle.

How, you ask?

Why, thank you for asking this totally unprompted question! Here's a very quick explanation (because author can't think straight at the moment :)).

He spent most of the time dodging anyone who tried to reach for his headband. However, at some point, while Bakugo had all his attention, Todoroki came up behind him with his ice and took the headband, fireproof to Midoriya's wings. Luckily, thanks to Aizawa's teaching, he managed to whip around just in time to yank a few of Todoroki's bands too. Though, surprising nearly everyone, when that happened, flames danced on Todoroki's hand - his left hand - and he would have blocked Midoriya if he hadn't snatched his hand away again to stare at it in horror.

For a split second, Midoirya wondered why, before he was distracted by the many headbands clutched in his hand and the thought escaped him. Even more luckily, they were high points, putting him in sixth place. That wasn't enough to advance to the finals, so they went around with Shinso's quirk trying to gain more points.

At the end of that, they were put into fourth place. However, when Monoma interfered, things went a little better - even though seemingly pear-shaped at first.

You can guess how that went, with Monoma's boasting, searing hot anger from Midoriya (literally) and a certain purple haired boy who got lucky with Monoma's careless talking. There was a close call with him trying to copy Shinso's quirk and one where Midoriya nearly killed him, but all's well that ends well. At one point, Koda braved his fear and a ball of insects threw themselves at Monoma, giving a great distraction to take some headbands. Sure, it was small, but it was something. They were all proud of him, and he blushed at the praise.

Team Midoriya stole loads of points from Team Monoma, placing them in third place.

And boom - they're into the finals.

It was now lunch break, and Midoriya was spending it in a tunnel with Todoroki, most likely to talk about something serious. Yay.

" So... What did you want to talk about, Todoroki?" he asked after a while.

Silence.

Just plain, silence.

He chuckled awkwardly, " If we don't hurry, the cafeteria will probably be really crowded..."

Todoroki just stared at him with his calculating gaze. Under it, Midoriya squirmed slightly.

" Um..."

Midoriya was now panicking. What was he supposed to do?! Spark up conversation or something? Todoroki was the one to ask to talk, but he wasn't exactly saying anything, so was he supposed to?
