The Real Enemy

You dragged the cloth over the windowsill and the dust came flying up. "Just try and steal any food Sasha and I'll have Captain Levi chop you up into bits." Jean and Sasha came through the door carrying bags. "Hey! Did you guys wipe the dust and dirt off your shoes before you came in?!" Eren shouted as he stopped sweeping the floor.

"No we didn't. Can't you see all the stuff we're carrying." Jean threw down the sack as you moved to a different part of the room. You kept your eyes on Jean, feeling your cheeks blush as you looked at him. You weren't paying attention and you bumped into someone.

"Ouch!" You winced at the pain in your arm. It had been about a month since your injury, but it was still bothering you. "Be careful Y/N! Your arm still hasn't fully healed." Armin's eyes widened and his voice caught Sasha's attention. "Were you caught staring at Jean again? Hm?" Sasha snickered as she came walking over to you and Armin.

"Jean?" Armin questioned Sasha and you cheeks got redder. "See. Whenever Y/N is near him or looks at him, their cheeks turn bright red. AND Jean is the same way." Sasha grabbed onto your good arm, locking arms with you and pulling you three into a circle.

"Come on Y/N. What is it?" Sasha nudged your side and Armin leaned in closer. "Alright. Jean and I have feelings for each other. Nothing is official but-" "I knew it!" Sasha whispered as her and Armin looked back at Jean. "Hey! Please keep this a secret. I don't know if he'd want anyone knowing right now." Armin and Sasha nodded their heads.

Sasha let go of your arm and returned to Connie. She gave you a wink as you got back to dusting. Armin had run over to the door as Mikasa and Christa came in with the firewood. You could hear them all bickering as you turned back around to look at everyone.

"Why do you figure we were chosen for the new Levi squad?" Armin asked as a frown appeared on his face. "Because we're talented, I assume." You watched as Sasha grabbed a piece of bread from the crate and quickly shoved it into her bag. "Sasha, what did you just put in your bag?" Armin turned to her and everyone looked.

"Why, you!" Jean approached Sasha and Eren followed him. "Hey, focus! We have to finish before Captain Levi gets back!" Eren whined as he held on tightly to the broom. You saw the figure of Levi entire the room and you immediately straightened out. You tried to catch the other's attention, but they didn't see him come in.

Eren turned around, staring with wide eyes at Levi. "Cut the crap, potato girl!" Jean was still bickering with Sasha. Levi made his way towards the table and everyone froze when they noticed him. He stuck his hand underneath the table and inspected it. "I'm quite sure you had enough time. We'll discuss your lax cleaning job another time. Eren, Hange is itching to get the experiment started."

Everyone groaned and Eren followed Levi out of the house. Once Captain Levi had exited, you all could finally relax. "Holy shit, he may be short, but he's scarier than Commander Erwin." You let out a heavy sigh and leaned against the wall. Jean nodded his head as he strutted over to you.

"Is your arm ok? I saw you bump into Armin." Jean looked at your arm, his eyebrows furrowed. "Yeah I'm fine. I'm sure it'll straighten out when I start using it more." You smiled up at him and his cheeks turned pink. "Oooo isn't it the cutest couple-" Sasha threw her arms around you and Jean. "Sasha!" You could feel everyone's eyes on you and Jean.

"Sasha, you were supposed to keep that a secret." Armin whispered as he pried Sasha off of you two. "Potato Girl knows?" Jean turned to you and you looked down at the floor as you rubbed the nape of your neck. "Yeah, sorry. She had already figured it out, so technically I didn't tell her."

"It's fine. Don't worry." Jean patted your head and turned to the others. "Couple?! How come I didn't hear anything?!" Connie screamed as he came running over to you and Jean. "W-We aren't official. We aren't a couple." You waved your arms around and Jean agreed.

"Mhm. Just be safe you two."

Eren's titan sat up and let out a loud roar, which shook the ground. You watched from up above as his titan collapses back onto the ground. "What's wrong Eren?! Get up! The future of humanity is riding on you!" Hange was shouting next to you as Eren laid motionless on the ground.

"Get up dammit!" Hange screamed out of frustration. "Hey four-eyes, he's not quite the same this time. He's not even 10 metes. Plus his ass is hanging out." You turned to see Levi talking to Hange. You looked to Armin, who looked worried as he looked at Eren.

"Eren!" You peered down to see Mikasa jumping off her horse and running towards Eren. "Eren!" Hange leapt off the cliff and down towards Eren. You knelt down, watching as they pried Eren from his titan body.

"Looks like we've got a long road ahead, before we can use the titan hardening ability to seal the wall." Captain Levi looked back at Armin. You slowly stood up and headed towards Armin. "I knew we'd be grasping at straws." Armin spoke quietly and you put your hand on his shoulder to reassure him.

"Instead of lugging tons of supplies, all we need is Eren to get there. It all depends on him."

You pulled the dark orange cardigan through your arms and straightened it out. "Hey, Sasha is on look-out duty, next will be you." You turned to see Eren and you nodded your head. "Thanks." You walked towards the door and exited the room, walking along with Eren downstairs.

Everyone was in the kitchen, assisting with the cooking. You skipped down the stairs and headed out of the house into the front. You walked along the porch and stopped to lean against the wooden railing. Sasha was perched up in he wooden structure, keeping her eyes peeled.

"What are you doing out here?" Jean approached you, leaning against the railing next to you. "I just needed some air. Everything is so confusing now. Connie's idea that titans are humans, Chr- I mean Historia being royal." You looked over at him. He was dressed nicely in a pair of dark pants paired with a beige collared shirt and a tan vest. "Yeah I know. You think this whole thing with Eren will work?" Jean let out a sigh as he leaned further into the rail, leaning his hand against his palm.

"I think it will. It'll just take time." You squinted your eyes as you looked out at the scenery. "Right. Why don't you come inside. The food is about to be ready." Jean grabbed onto your hand, pulling you towards the door. When you entered the house again, you could make out the scent of the boiling vegetables.

"Captain Levi and Hange are coming." Eren looked out the window and you all quickly scrambled to greet them at the door. Hange and Levi entered with a couple of other scouts. "Pastor Nick is dead." Hange got straight to the point. Your eyes widened and you looked to Captain Levi.

"He was murdered. I figured the church would want to deal with him, which is why I hid him, but to think they'd use soldiers to kill him..." Hange spoke quietly as you all gathered around the table. "The Military Police... Did they torture him to find out what information he told us?" You asked as you looked to Captain Levi and Hange.

"Most likely. But it was interior Military Police, which means there's something more behind it." Levi set down his cup of tea and looked to you. "Someone in the government is up to no good, and their eyes are fixed on us." There was the sound of the door opening and a girl with bright red hair entered.

"Captain Levi. A message from Commander Erwin." She handed him a piece of paper. "I went to tell him about Pastor Nick, but he sent me off with this." Levi read the note and immediately stood up. "Everyone, out. We leave now. Leave no trace we were here."

"That was close." You heard Connie mutter behind you. You peered over the rock to see torches at the house you all were once at. "New orders came from the government. There's been a freeze on all Scout Regiment activity outside the wall. They're telling us to hand over Eren and Historia." Captain Levi looked to them both.

You couldn't get used to Christa's real name. It hadn't been long since she had revealed her true identity, which was shocking to all of you. "Right after he gave me the message, the Military Police came for him." The messenger recalled what she had seen.

You let out a sigh as you stood up, gripping the long rifle in your hand. "Why do they want us to hand over Eren and Historia?" Hange asked as they placed their hand on their chin. "I don't know. It's clear they're after these two. Loitering around here is dangerous. We're moving her and Eren to Trost District."

Everyone gasped at Levi's words. "That's the same place Pastor Nick was killed." You looked to Levi, who was as serious as always. "It's worse to go near the interior."
